General Guadalupe Victoria International Airport, known as Durango International Airport (DGO), serves the city and state of Durango in northern Mexico. It sits about 17 km northeast of the city center. This is the airport of Durango, Mexico, not Durango–La Plata County Airport in Colorado, which uses the code DRO.
Five airlines fly here. The busiest routes are Tijuana and Mexico City, followed by Dallas/Fort Worth, Mexico City's Felipe Ángeles airport and Chicago Midway. Aeroméxico flies to both Mexico City airports, Volaris to Tijuana, Guadalajara and Chicago Midway, American Airlines to Dallas/Fort Worth, and Viva Aerobus and Aerus to Monterrey.
The airport has a single passenger terminal for domestic and international flights, with check-in, a VIP lounge and a departure concourse of three gates that open directly onto the apron. A separate terminal handles general and executive aviation.
From the airport, travelers head into Durango's historic center, with its cathedral and the Francisco Villa Museum, and on to the Sierra Madre Occidental for hiking and bird watching.

Durango has one passenger terminal, and its gates open directly onto the apron, so you walk between the aircraft and the building.
If you arrive on an international flight, such as American Airlines from Dallas/Fort Worth or Volaris from Chicago, you clear immigration first. Have your passport and your flight details ready; visitors from many countries do not need a visa, but check the rules for your passport before you travel. After immigration, collect your bags at baggage claim and pass through customs.
Domestic passengers go straight to baggage claim and then into the arrivals area.
The car rental counters and the taxi stands are at the terminal. There is no public transport listed from the airport into the city, so arrange your ride before you land: a pre-booked transfer, a taxi from the stand or a rental car. If you booked a transfer, your driver waits for you as you leave the arrivals area.
No public transport is listed from the airport, so most travelers use a pre-booked transfer, a taxi or a rental car.
A pre-booked driver meets you at arrivals and takes you to your hotel in Durango's historic center or elsewhere in the city. It suits families and anyone with luggage.
Taxis wait at the stands at the terminal. Confirm the destination before you set off.
Rental counters are at the terminal. A car is useful for trips into the Sierra Madre Occidental.

Request wheelchair or mobility assistance through your airline when you book, and confirm it at least 48 hours before you fly.
The gates open onto the apron and there are no jet bridges, so boarding is by stairs. Tell your airline in advance if you need help getting on or off the aircraft.
Rules for service and emotional support animals are set by each airline, so check with yours before you travel and carry the required documents.
Airline staff meet passengers who requested assistance at the aircraft and accompany them through immigration, baggage claim and customs to the arrivals area.
Parking is available at the terminal for drop-offs, pickups and longer stays.

Durango airport uses Central Standard Time (UTC−6) all year, the same as Mexico City. Mexico no longer observes daylight saving time in this region, so the time difference with US cities such as Dallas and Chicago changes when the United States moves its clocks in spring and autumn.
