Also known as: Nevşehir Airport, Cappadocia Airport, Kapadokya Airport, NAV Airport, Nevşehir Cappadocia Airport. Formerly Nevşehir Tuzköy Airfield.
NAV · LTAZ · Nevşehir
Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) serves Nevşehir and the Cappadocia region of Central Anatolia, Turkey. It handled about 755,000 passengers in 2025, almost all of them on domestic flights.
Turkish Airlines flies to Istanbul Airport and AJet flies to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, so most visitors arrive on a flight from Istanbul, including those connecting from abroad. International flights are occasional and seasonal.
Passengers use a single terminal with domestic and international areas; its new building opened in stages in 2026. The airport stands at Tuzköy in the Gülşehir district, about 10 km from Gülşehir town and roughly 30 km northwest of Nevşehir city center, a drive of about 30 to 35 minutes.
Most travelers head on to the Cappadocia valleys. Avanos and Uçhisar are about 35 km away, Göreme about 43 km and Ürgüp about 49 km, and the drive to Göreme usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Kayseri Erkilet International Airport (ASR), the region's other airport, has more flights but sits farther from the valleys.

Most passengers land at Nevşehir on a domestic flight from Istanbul. If you are coming from abroad, you normally clear passport control in Istanbul before your connection, so there are no immigration checks when you arrive here; on the occasional international flight, passport control and customs take place at Nevşehir. Many nationalities can visit Turkey visa-free for short stays, while others need an e-Visa from evisa.gov.tr before departure.
The terminal is small, so baggage claim is a short walk from the aircraft. On a single ticket through Istanbul, your checked bags travel through to Nevşehir.
Outside, the taxi rank is at the terminal exit. There is no Havaş airport bus or city bus to rely on, so arrange your onward transport before you land: shared shuttles to Cappadocia hotels need a reservation, and pre-booked drivers wait with a name sign at the arrivals exit.
Cappadocia has cold, often snowy winters and hot, dry summers. Turkey uses Turkey Time (UTC+3) all year, and the currency is the Turkish lira (TRY).
Most travelers heading to Cappadocia use a pre-booked shuttle or private transfer, while a taxi suits short trips to Nevşehir or Gülşehir.
Taxis wait at the terminal exit around the clock. The ride to Nevşehir city center takes about 30 to 35 minutes; agree on the destination before you set off for the farther Cappadocia towns.
Shared shuttle vans run from the airport to hotels in Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp, Avanos and Nevşehir. Seats need to be reserved in advance, and stops at several hotels make the trip longer than a direct ride.
A pre-booked car or van takes you straight to your hotel, with the driver waiting at arrivals with a name sign. It suits families, groups and late arrivals, but it has to be arranged before you fly.
Rental companies, including Avis and Enterprise, serve the airport, though some operate only seasonally. A car lets you explore the valleys at your own pace, but in winter be ready for snow on the roads.
There is no Havaş or city bus at the airport. To travel by bus, take a taxi to the Nevşehir bus station, about 35 to 40 minutes away, and continue on local or intercity buses from there.

Göreme is about 43 km from Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport by road, a drive of roughly 30 to 45 minutes. Uçhisar and Avanos are both about 35 km away and Ürgüp about 49 km. Shared shuttles can take longer than a direct ride because they stop at several hotels along the way.
Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is roughly 30 km northwest of Nevşehir city center, a drive of about 30 to 35 minutes. The airport is not in the city itself but at Tuzköy in the Gülşehir district, about 10 km from Gülşehir town, and the four-lane road toward Nevşehir is signposted.
Both airports serve Cappadocia. Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) is closer to the valleys, about 43 km from Göreme, but it has only a few routes, mainly to Istanbul. Kayseri Erkilet International Airport (ASR) is about 75 km from Göreme and has more airlines and international routes, so many travelers pick whichever has the better flight.
Turkish Airlines flies between Nevşehir and Istanbul Airport, and AJet flies between Nevşehir and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen. Most visitors, including those arriving from abroad, connect through one of these two Istanbul airports. International flights are occasional and seasonal, and in 2025 they carried only a few thousand passengers.
Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport has one passenger terminal handling both domestic and international flights. A new terminal building is opening in phases: its departure halls entered service in February 2026, with the arrival halls built in a second phase. Because the airport is small, getting from the aircraft to the exit is quick.
Yes. Taxis wait at the terminal exit around the clock. The ride to Nevşehir city center takes about 30 to 35 minutes, and taxis also go to Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp and Avanos. For the longer trips into Cappadocia, confirm the destination and route with the driver before you leave the airport.
No. There is no Havaş airport bus or city bus serving Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport. Travelers either take a taxi, a pre-booked shuttle or a private transfer. If you want to continue by bus, take a taxi to the Nevşehir bus station, about 35 to 40 minutes away, and catch local or intercity buses from there.
Most visitors use a shared shuttle or a private transfer straight to their hotel in Göreme, Uçhisar, Ürgüp or Avanos. Shuttle seats must be reserved in advance, and drivers meet passengers with a name sign at the arrivals exit. A taxi from the rank outside the terminal or a rental car are the other options.
Yes. Rental companies, including Avis and Enterprise, serve Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport, although some operate only seasonally, so reserve ahead. Driving gives you freedom to reach the valleys, viewpoints and underground cities at your own pace. In winter, roads around Cappadocia can see snow and ice, so check conditions before you drive.
It depends on your passport. Citizens of the US, Canada, the UK, Australia and many European countries can visit Turkey visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Others can apply online for an e-Visa at evisa.gov.tr. If you connect through Istanbul from abroad, you go through passport control there, not in Nevşehir.
If you fly from abroad and connect in Istanbul, you clear passport control in Istanbul, then board a domestic flight to Nevşehir. On a single ticket your checked bags go through to Nevşehir; on separate tickets you collect them in Istanbul and check in again. Only the occasional direct international flight clears passport control at Nevşehir.
Nevşehir and Cappadocia use Turkey Time, UTC+3, all year round; Turkey does not observe daylight saving time. The currency is the Turkish lira (TRY). The region sits on a high plateau, with the airport at about 940 m, so winters are cold and often snowy and summers are hot and dry.
Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport is run by DHMİ, Turkey's State Airports Authority. It handled about 755,000 passengers in 2025, up from about 722,000 in 2024, almost all on domestic flights. The airport has one 3,000 m runway, and its new terminal is designed to raise annual capacity to about 2 million passengers.
