Denver International Airport (DEN), often called DIA, serves Denver, Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region of the United States. It sits about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of downtown Denver and opened in 1995.
DEN is United Airlines' largest hub and also the largest base for both Southwest and Frontier, with nonstop flights across the United States and to Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. It handled a record 82.4 million passengers in 2025.
The airport has one terminal, the Jeppesen Terminal, known for its peaked white roof, and three midfield concourses: A, B and C. Concourse A can be reached on foot over a bridge; Concourses B and C only by the underground train, which also serves A. International arrivals are processed in Concourse A.
The RTD A Line train runs from the terminal to Denver Union Station in downtown Denver. Many travelers also continue by road to Boulder, Fort Collins and the ski resorts of the Rocky Mountains.

If you arrive on an international flight, you clear US Customs and Border Protection in Concourse A. If you are eligible, Global Entry or Mobile Passport Control can shorten the line. Then collect your bags and continue to the terminal.
Domestic passengers ride the train straight to the Jeppesen Terminal and collect their bags at baggage claim there.
Ground transportation pickups, including taxis, ride apps, shuttles and pre-booked drivers, are on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, on the East and West sides. The RTD A Line train to downtown leaves from the south end of the terminal. Denver sits at over 5,000 ft, so take it easy and drink water on your first day, especially if you are heading on to the mountains.
A pre-booked transfer suits travelers with luggage or ski gear; the A Line train is the quickest public route downtown.
A pre-booked driver meets you on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal and takes you to downtown Denver, Boulder or the mountain resorts. The easiest option for families, groups and ski equipment.
RTD's A Line runs from the terminal to Denver Union Station in about 37 minutes, roughly every 15 minutes. Cheap and avoids traffic, but you carry your bags.
Taxis wait on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal. The drive to downtown is about 25 miles.
RTD SkyRide buses serve Boulder and Arapahoe County, scheduled buses run to Fort Collins, and van services go to the ski areas and nearby states.
