PDX · KPDX · Portland

Portland International Airport (PDX) is the main airport for Portland, Oregon, in the United States, and for southwest Washington across the Columbia River. It sits just south of the river in northeast Portland, about 12 miles from downtown by road.
Alaska Airlines has a hub here and flies the widest network, from Seattle and the California cities to Anchorage and Hawaii. Delta, United, Southwest and American connect Portland with their own hubs across the country. International nonstops include Vancouver, Guadalajara, Amsterdam, London Heathrow and Reykjavík, with Condor to Frankfurt in season.
The airport has one passenger terminal with 60 gates on four concourses, B, C, D and E. The international gates are in Concourse D. The first phase of the new main terminal hall opened in August 2024, and work on the wider expansion continues.
From the airport, most travelers head to downtown Portland, to Vancouver, Washington, or further out to the wine country and Mount Hood. The MAX Red Line light rail station is a short walk from baggage claim, and the terminal is reached by road from Interstate 205.

If you arrive on an international flight, you clear US immigration and customs in the international section of Concourse D before you collect your bags and walk out into the main terminal. Domestic arrivals go straight from the gate to baggage claim in the main terminal.
Everything leaves from one terminal, so once you have your luggage you only need to follow the ground transportation signs. The MAX Red Line light rail station is about 150 feet from baggage claim, and trains run to downtown Portland and on to Beaverton.
Taxis, rideshare pickups, shuttles and pre-booked cars each have their own signposted zones outside the terminal. Check which one your ride uses before you head out, as the airport's exits and pickup areas are being redesigned as part of the terminal expansion, and follow the signs on the day.
If you are heading to Salem or Bend, Pacific Crest Lines runs daily shuttles from the airport; C-Tran buses run to east Vancouver, Washington.
Portland is on Pacific Time. Rain is common for much of the year, so keep a light jacket handy.
The MAX Red Line suits most travelers going downtown; a taxi or private car is easier with heavy luggage or for Vancouver, the wine country or Mount Hood.
The station is about 150 feet from baggage claim. Trains run to downtown Portland and west to Beaverton, a low-cost option if your bags are manageable.
Taxis wait at the signposted rank outside the terminal. Door to door, but the fare rises with distance.
Rideshare apps pick up at the signposted rideshare zone. Fares rise at busy times.
A pre-booked car meets you at the terminal, which is useful for groups, late arrivals and longer trips out of the city.
C-Tran route 67 runs to east Vancouver, Washington, and Pacific Crest Lines runs daily shuttles to Union Station, Salem and Bend.
