Terminal 1
The original terminal, with Concourses A and B. It handles Cathay Pacific, Tigerair Taiwan, Korean Air, Thai Airways and most low-cost carriers, plus part of the China Airlines and Starlux networks.
También conocido como: TPE Airport, Taipei Airport, Taoyuan Airport, Taipei Taoyuan Airport. Antes Chiang Kai-shek International Airport.

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is the main international airport for Taipei and northern Taiwan. It stands in Dayuan District of Taoyuan City, about 40 km (25 miles) west of central Taipei, and the drive into the city usually takes 40 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.
China Airlines, EVA Air and Starlux Airlines are based here and fly across Asia and to North America, Europe and Oceania. Tigerair Taiwan adds low-cost flights to Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, and carriers such as Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Emirates, United and Delta connect TPE with their own hubs. The airport handled about 47.8 million passengers in 2025.
Two terminals handle all flights, joined by a free Skytrain. The North Concourse of the new Terminal 3 opened at the end of 2025 with extra gates reached through Terminal 2, while the main Terminal 3 building is still under construction.
From the airport, most travelers head into Taipei, to hotels around Taipei Main Station, Zhongshan, Ximending and the Xinyi District, or to Banqiao in New Taipei. Others stay closer by in Taoyuan and Zhongli, or continue to the Taoyuan High Speed Rail station for trains south along the west coast.

Many nationalities can visit Taiwan visa-free, and every international arrival fills in the online arrival card before landing.
At immigration, follow the signs for foreign passport holders. If you landed at a Terminal 3 North Concourse gate, you walk back into Terminal 2 for immigration and baggage claim. After you collect your bags, you pass customs: the green channel is for travelers with nothing to declare, the red channel for anyone carrying goods or cash above the allowances.
You come out into the arrivals hall on the first floor (1F) of your terminal. Here you will find currency exchange counters, ATMs, mobile phone counters for local SIM cards and the tourist service center. For the city, follow the signs down to the Airport MRT on level B2, to the bus counters for Kuo-Kuang and other coach lines, or outside to the taxi stand. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you in the arrivals hall or at the numbered pickup points along the curb outside.
Taiwan is on National Standard Time (UTC+8) all year and uses the New Taiwan dollar.
The Airport MRT is the quickest public option into Taipei; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage, at night or for addresses away from the stations.
Express trains leave from Airport Terminal 1 (A12) and Airport Terminal 2 (A13) stations and reach Taipei Main Station in about 38 minutes. Commuter trains stop at every station, including the Taoyuan HSR station (A18), and service stops around midnight.
Kuo-Kuang route 1819 runs from both terminals to Taipei Main Station, and other coach lines serve Taoyuan, Zhongli, Banqiao and Taichung. Buy tickets at the bus counters in arrivals; luggage space is limited.
Metered taxis wait outside both terminals 24 hours a day and go door to door anywhere in Taipei, with an airport surcharge on the meter.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals hall, useful for families, groups, late arrivals and trips beyond the MRT line.
Car rental companies have counters in both terminals; booking ahead is recommended.

A free terminal shuttle bus runs between the terminals, and is the late-night option when the MRT is closed.
Inside the restricted area you can walk between the terminals in about 15 to 20 minutes; on the public side there is no walkway.
China Airlines and Starlux Airlines use both terminals depending on the route, so check the terminal on your ticket.
