Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Puerto Vallarta International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.
From PVR, transfers run south to Marina Vallarta, the Hotel Zone, downtown and the Romantic Zone, and north across the Ameca River to Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Punta de Mita, Sayulita and San Pancho on the Riviera Nayarit.
Travelers leaving Puerto Vallarta International Airport have a handful of options:
A private transfer is the simplest choice for families, groups and anyone heading to Nuevo Vallarta, Punta de Mita or Sayulita: the price is fixed before you land, nobody has to haul bags across the highway, and you skip the negotiation with sellers inside the terminal.
Arrival pick-up. After customs, international passengers walk through a corridor of timeshare and tour sellers, often called the "shark tank". Do not stop to buy transportation there and do not hand over your booking details; keep walking until you are outside the main doors, where your representative waits with your name.
Departure drop-off. Your driver collects you at your hotel lobby or rental at the time on your confirmation and drops you at the terminal. Domestic flights leave from Concourse A and international flights from Concourse B. Allow at least two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one, more in the December–April high season. Construction of the new terminal can change access roads and drop-off points, so leave extra margin.

Puerto Vallarta International Airport (Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, PVR) sits in Jalisco about 1 km north of Marina Vallarta, just south of the Ameca River and the state line with Nayarit. International flights arrive at Concourse B, a satellite building with 15 gates; domestic flights use Concourse A. Immigration can take 30–60 minutes on peak winter weekends, then baggage claim and customs, where a red-or-green light decides whether your bags are inspected.
Typical drive times from the airport: Marina Vallarta and the Hotel Zone 5–15 minutes, downtown and the Romantic Zone 15–25 minutes, Nuevo Vallarta 20–30 minutes, Bucerías 30–40 minutes, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle 35–45 minutes, Punta de Mita 45–60 minutes, Sayulita 60–75 minutes and San Pancho 75–90 minutes. Traffic on Highway 200 is heaviest in the afternoon and in high season.
Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta both run on Central Standard Time (UTC−6) all year, even though Nuevo Vallarta is in Nayarit, so set pick-up times in local time.

Give the exact address and area. "Vallarta" covers two states: Marina Vallarta, the Hotel Zone, downtown, the Romantic Zone and Conchas Chinas are in Jalisco, while Nuevo Vallarta, Flamingos, Bucerías, Punta de Mita and Sayulita are in Nayarit, and they are priced differently.
Gated resorts and private villas. Punta de Mita and many Nuevo Vallarta developments have a guarded entrance. Add the resort or villa name and any gate instructions so the driver is let in.
Hillside rentals. Many vacation rentals in the Romantic Zone and Conchas Chinas sit on steep, narrow cobblestone streets where a large van may not reach the door. Mention it when booking.
Luggage. Most vehicles allow one suitcase and one carry-on per person. Declare surfboards, golf bags and other oversized items in advance.
Entry. International visitors need a valid passport. Keep documents and medication in your carry-on and carry some pesos for tips and small purchases.

Ride-hailing apps can't pick up at the arrivals curb. Travelers who use them cross the pedestrian bridge over Highway 200 and order from the other side, carrying their luggage. A pre-booked transfer meets you outside the terminal.
