Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) is the airport for Barcelona and Catalonia and the second-busiest in Spain, by the sea at El Prat de Llobregat, southwest of the city. It has two terminals in separate buildings, linked by a free shuttle bus: Terminal 1 handles most flights, including most full-service and long-haul airlines, and Terminal 2, split into 2A, 2B and 2C, is used mainly by Ryanair (2B) and easyJet (2C).
Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and the Americas, you queue at passport control, where eGates speed things up for some passports. After baggage claim you pass customs into the arrivals hall of your terminal, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers, so confirm whether you land at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 when you book.
Spain is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Schengen entry. Spain is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. The two terminals are separate buildings, so give your airline and arrival terminal when you book; your driver waits in that terminal's arrivals hall.
Gothic Quarter and El Born addresses. Many streets in the old city are pedestrian, so give your full address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Cruise and ferry days. For the port, give your ship or ferry name and its departure time, so your driver drops you at the right terminal.
Euro and cards. Spain uses the euro, and cards and contactless payments are widely accepted.
