Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), still widely called Otopeni Airport, is the main airport of Bucharest and the busiest in Romania. It sits in the town of Otopeni, north of the city, and has one terminal: a Departures Hall and an Arrivals Hall linked by a shopping walkway, plus an airside finger concourse with Schengen and non-Schengen gates.
Romania is a full Schengen member, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport control, while passengers from outside the Schengen Area pass passport control in the finger concourse. After baggage claim and customs, you exit into the Arrivals Hall on the ground floor.
Bucharest is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and moves to summer time (UTC+3) from late March to late October.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Schengen entry. Romania has been a full Schengen member since 1 January 2025. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Romanian leu. Romania uses the leu (RON), not the euro. ATMs are available in the Arrivals Hall.
Otopeni, not Băneasa. Bucharest's smaller Băneasa (Aurel Vlaicu) airport is a different airport closer to the city. Check that your ticket says OTP before you book this page.
