Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) lies north of downtown Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, and is the base of China Southern Airlines. Two terminals are in use: Terminal 2, China Southern's base, and Terminal 3, opened on 30 October 2025 for most other Chinese airlines and many foreign carriers. Terminal 1 closed on 7 May 2026 for renovation.
International arrivals clear immigration first, then collect their bags in the arrivals baggage hall and pass customs into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers wait.
Guangzhou runs on China Standard Time (UTC+8) all year, with no daylight saving time.
Arrival card. Since 20 November 2025 you can submit China's arrival card online before landing through the National Immigration Administration app or mini programs, or complete it at the airport.
Visa-free stays. Many nationalities can enter China visa-free for up to 30 days until 31 December 2026, and citizens of 57 countries can use 240-hour visa-free transit with a confirmed onward ticket to a third country.
Check your terminal. Terminal 1 is closed for renovation and airlines moved between terminals during 2025 and 2026, so confirm Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 on your boarding pass and give it when you book.
Mobile payment. The currency is the renminbi (CNY), and mobile payment apps are the usual way to pay.

The airport is about 28 km north of downtown Guangzhou. By car the trip to the center takes about 40 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic.

Metro Line 3 runs roughly from 06:00 to 23:30. Your pickup follows the actual landing time of the flight on your reservation, so a late arrival is covered and you go straight to your address.
No. Turn down drivers who approach you inside the terminal. Use only the official taxi queue or go with the driver named in your confirmation.
We monitor the flight on your reservation, so a delay moves your pickup with it. If your flight number, date or terminal changes, tell customer service so the booking can be updated.
Yes. Book a departure from your hotel or address to CAN and give your departure terminal, Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, since the two buildings are separate and linked only by shuttle bus and train.
