Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is the main airport of Cyprus, on the coast just southwest of Larnaca. All scheduled and charter flights use one passenger terminal, opened in 2009, with arrivals on the ground level and departures on the upper level; the older terminal building is used only for VIP and private flights.
Cyprus is in the European Union but not in the Schengen Area, so every arriving passenger goes through Cypriot passport control, with separate lanes for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens and for other passports. After passport control you collect your bags in the baggage hall and pass through customs into the arrivals hall. Queues are longest at busy summer peaks.
Cyprus is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and moves to UTC+3 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Not in Schengen. Cyprus is in the EU but runs its own passport control and visas. EU citizens can enter with a national ID card; many other nationalities need a Cyprus visa, although holders of a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa can stay up to 90 days without one. Check the rules for your nationality before you fly.
Euro currency. Cyprus uses the euro, and there are ATMs and currency exchange inside the terminal.
Time zone. Cyprus is one time zone ahead of most of continental Europe, on Eastern European Time (UTC+2, UTC+3 in summer), so check your pickup and flight times on local time.
Hot summers. Summers in Cyprus are hot and dry, and summer arrivals step out into strong heat, so keep water and sun protection in your hand luggage.
