Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS) is the main airport for Lyon and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, in Colombier-Saugnieu, southeast of the city. Since 1 April 2026 all flights use Terminal 1, including its satellite with the D gates; Terminal 2 has closed and no reopening date has been announced, so there is one arrivals hall.
Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. From outside the Schengen area, including the UK, North Africa and Canada, you pass border police before baggage claim, where EU, EEA and Swiss citizens with biometric passports can often use the PARAFE automated gates. Skis and other large sports equipment usually come out at a separate oversized-baggage point. After customs you come out into the Terminal 1 arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
France is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the euro.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Schengen entry. France is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
One terminal for now. Terminal 2 has been closed since April 2026, so every flight arrives at Terminal 1, even if an older booking or website still shows Terminal 2.
Vieux Lyon streets. Many streets in Vieux Lyon and on the slopes of the Croix-Rousse are narrow or pedestrian, so give your full address; your driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach.
Euro and cards. France uses the euro, and cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere.
