Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) is the main airport for Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley in Southern California, east of downtown Palm Springs. It is run by the City of Palm Springs.
The airport has one main building with ticketing, security, baggage claim and car rental. Past security, an open-air courtyard leads to two concourses: the elevated Sonny Bono Concourse, with jet bridges, and the ground-level Agua Caliente Concourse (Gates 12–20), where you leave the aircraft on the tarmac. The walk from the gate to baggage claim is partly outdoors, so expect strong heat in summer and cool evenings in winter. After baggage claim, pre-booked cars pick up at the signposted zone outside the main building.
Palm Springs is on Pacific Time and switches to daylight saving time from March to November.
Busy season and festivals. Winter, roughly November to April, is the busy season, and big events, above all the Coachella festival, fill the valley, so book your ride early for those dates.
Gated communities. Many homes and resorts in Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert and La Quinta are behind gates, so give the gate code or guard instructions when you book.
