Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) is on the coast east of central Shanghai and is the main hub of China Eastern Airlines. It has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, standing side by side with the rail stations between them; each is linked by an automated train to a satellite concourse, S1 and S2.
If you arrive at a satellite gate, the automated train takes you to the main terminal for passport control. Collect your bags in the baggage hall, then pass through customs into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers wait.
Shanghai runs on China Standard Time (UTC+8) all year, with no daylight saving time.
Arrival card. Fill in China's online arrival card before landing through the NIA 12367 app, the National Immigration Administration website or its WeChat or Alipay mini program. Paper cards and kiosks are also available at immigration.
Visa-free stays. Nationals on China's visa-free list can stay up to 30 days through 31 December 2026, and eligible transit passengers can use 240-hour visa-free transit with an onward ticket to a third country. Everyone else needs a visa.
Two Shanghai airports. Pudong (PVG) and Hongqiao (SHA) are on opposite sides of the city. Check the code on your ticket and book your transfer from the airport you actually land at.
Mobile payment. The currency is the renminbi (yuan, CNY), and Alipay and WeChat Pay, which both accept linked foreign cards, are used almost everywhere.

Shanghai has two airports, so make sure your ticket says PVG (Pudong) and not SHA (Hongqiao), which lies on the opposite side of the city.

The airport is about 30 km east of central Shanghai. The Bund is roughly 43 km away by road, about 55 minutes without heavy traffic.
Pudong (PVG) is Shanghai's main international airport, east of the city. Hongqiao (SHA) is on the west side, next to Hongqiao Railway Station, and handles mostly domestic and regional flights. Check which code your ticket shows.
China Eastern Airlines and SkyTeam partners such as Air France and Delta mainly use Terminal 1. Air China, Star Alliance and Oneworld airlines, Emirates and Juneyao Air use Terminal 2, along with some China Eastern flights, so check your ticket or airline app.

Yes. Enter Hongqiao Railway Station as your drop-off. High-speed trains leave there for Suzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Beijing, so give your train time when you book and allow a margin for traffic.

The Maglev runs roughly from 7 am until just before 10 pm. Your pickup follows the actual landing time of the flight on your reservation, so a late arrival is covered and you go straight to your address.
No. Turn down anyone inside the terminal who offers you a ride. Go only with the driver named in your confirmation, who waits in the arrivals hall after the customs exit.
We monitor the flight on your reservation, so a delay moves your pickup with it. If your flight number, date or arrival airport changes, for example to Hongqiao, tell customer service so the booking can be updated.
Yes. Book a departure from your hotel or address to PVG and give your departure terminal, Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, so your driver drops you at the right building.
