Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), named after the composer Frédéric Chopin and known in Polish as Lotnisko Chopina, is Poland's largest and busiest airport and the hub of LOT Polish Airlines. It lies on the southwest side of Warsaw, inside the city limits, and all passenger flights use one terminal.
If you fly in from outside the Schengen area, including the US, Canada and the UK, you pass border control before baggage claim; flights from other Schengen countries skip passport control. Non-EU visitors are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System on their first entry, with fingerprints and a facial photo, which can add time. After baggage claim you walk through customs into the public arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Poland is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving time from late March to late October. It uses the Polish złoty (PLN).

Schengen entry. Poland is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Chopin, not Modlin. Warsaw has a second airport, Warsaw Modlin (WMI), north of the city and used mainly by low-cost airlines. This page books rides from Chopin (WAW) only, so check the airport code on your ticket.
Złoty, not euro. Poland is in the EU but uses the Polish złoty (PLN); cards and contactless payments are accepted almost everywhere.
