Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Wellington International Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.
After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Wellington airport transfers start in the arrivals area on the Ground Floor of the single terminal, where your driver waits with a name sign once you have your bags, and after customs and biosecurity if you fly in from overseas. We track your flight, so the pickup follows your real landing time, and the price is fixed per vehicle and agreed before you fly, from a sedan for two to a van for a family or group with luggage.
Each Wellington airport transfer goes door to door to your hotel, apartment or vacation rental in the city or the suburbs, to the Interislander or Bluebridge terminal for the Cook Strait crossing, or to the wharf for your cruise. Our Wellington airport shuttle is a private van for your party only, not a shared shuttle that stops at other addresses on the way into the city. Wellington International Airport (WLG) is in Rongotai, on the narrow strip of land between Evans Bay and Lyall Bay, southeast of the city. All domestic and international flights use one terminal with three piers, so there is no terminal to choose, and every passenger collects bags on the Ground Floor.
On an international arrival you pass through passport control, where eligible passports can use the eGates, then collect your bags and go through customs and biosecurity, where officers check what you declared. On a domestic flight you walk straight from the gate to baggage claim. Taxis, app-based rides and pre-booked vehicles all pick up just outside, through Door G.
New Zealand is on NZST (UTC+12) and switches to NZDT (UTC+13) from late September to early April. It uses the New Zealand dollar.
NZeTA and visitor levy. Most visitors from visa-waiver countries, including the US and UK, need a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before boarding and pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) with it. Australian citizens do not need one; check the visa rules for your passport before you fly.
Biosecurity declaration. Every traveler, children included, completes New Zealand's digital arrival declaration (NZTD), which can be submitted up to 24 hours before departure. Declare all food and used outdoor gear such as hiking boots, tents and fishing equipment, or use the amnesty bins before biosecurity.
Overnight closure. The terminal closes from 1:30 to 3:00 every night, so travelers on very late arrivals or early departures cannot wait inside during those hours.
Ferry check-in. The Interislander and Bluebridge ferries sail from separate terminals, so give the operator and sailing time when you book; ferry companies set their own check-in deadlines, especially for vehicles.

Wellington Airport is in Rongotai, about 8 km (5 miles) by road from the city center through the Mount Victoria Tunnel, usually 15 to 25 minutes. Lower Hutt is usually about 25 to 35 minutes away, and Paraparaumu on the Kāpiti Coast about an hour.
