Fortaleza–Pinto Martins International Airport (FOR) is Fortaleza's airport, in the Serrinha district south of downtown, and is run by Fraport Brasil. All passenger flights use one three-level terminal: check-in on the ground floor, arrivals and baggage claim on the first floor, and departure gates on the second.
On a flight from abroad you clear Federal Police passport control and then customs. Baggage claim for domestic and international flights is on the first floor, next to the car rental counters, and the arrivals hall is straight after it, where pre-booked drivers wait. Ride-app pickups are one level down on the ground floor (piso 0).
Fortaleza is on UTC-3 all year, with no daylight saving time.
Brazil e-visa. US, Canadian and Australian citizens have needed an approved Brazil e-visa again since April 10, 2025, and airlines check it before boarding. Many European and South American travelers can visit visa-free; check the rules for your passport before you fly.
Ride offers in the hall. Ignore people offering rides in the arrivals hall. Use only the official taxi desks and rank, a ride app or the driver named in your confirmation.
Jericoacoara's sand road. The paved road ends at Jijoca, and the last 28 km into Jericoacoara village are on sand, where ordinary cars cannot go. Give your exact lodging when you book so your drop-off point is confirmed.
Heat and rain. Fortaleza is hot and sunny year-round, with most rain from February to May. Keep water, sunscreen and light clothes in your hand luggage.

The airport is in the Serrinha district, about 8 to 9 km south of downtown Fortaleza. The seafront hotels along Avenida Beira Mar and in Meireles are farther, around 14 km away, and the drive depends heavily on traffic.
Yes, you can request it when you book. Jericoacoara is about 300 km west of Fortaleza, and the last 28 km beyond Jijoca are on sand, so give your exact lodging and your vehicle and drop-off point are confirmed on your reservation.
