Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) is at El Matorral, on the island's east coast just south of Puerto del Rosario, and Aena runs it. All flights use one two-story terminal: arrivals and baggage claim are on the ground floor, and the departure lounge and gates are on the first floor.
Flights from mainland Spain and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks; from outside the Schengen area, including the UK and Ireland, you line up at passport control. After baggage claim you pass through customs into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
The Canary Islands are one hour behind mainland Spain, on UTC+0 and UTC+1 from late March to late October. The island uses the euro.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Schengen entry. Fuerteventura is in Spain and the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers arriving from outside the Schengen area are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Canary Islands customs. The Canary Islands are outside the EU VAT and excise area, so customs channels apply even on flights from mainland Spain, and duty-free allowances apply to goods you take back to the EU.
Canary time. The islands are one hour behind mainland Spain, so check any ferry or onward times you booked on mainland Spanish time.
Euro and cards. The island uses the euro, and cards are widely accepted.
