Tocumen International Airport (PTY) sits in the Tocumen area on the eastern side of Panama City and is the hub of Copa Airlines. It has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1, opened in 1978, and Terminal 2, opened in 2022, joined by a walkway of about 170 m and a free shuttle bus.
After landing you clear immigration, where lines can be long when several flights arrive together, then collect your bags and pass customs. Copa passengers collect their bags at Terminal 2, even when the plane parks at a Terminal 1 gate. Your pre-booked driver waits just outside the customs exit.
