San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) has two terminals, A and B, in a line along Terminal Drive. American, Delta, Frontier, United and Volaris use Terminal A; Southwest, Alaska Airlines and ZIPAIR use Terminal B. Domestic passengers walk straight to baggage claim on the lower level of their terminal.
Every international flight arrives at Terminal A, whichever terminal it departs from. You pass US immigration on the lower level of the international arrivals area, collect your bags and clear customs before you exit, then follow the ground transportation signs to your pickup stop.
San Jose is on Pacific Time, UTC-8, and UTC-7 from March to early November.
Entry requirements and local notes
ESTA or visa. Visitors from Visa Waiver Program countries need an approved ESTA before boarding; everyone else needs a valid US visa. Declare food, plants and other farm products to US Customs on arrival.
San Jose, California. This page is for San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) in California, not Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica, so check the code on your ticket.
Numbered pickup stops. SJC gives every kind of ride its own signposted stop, and pre-arranged cars cannot wait at the taxi or rideshare curbs. International arrivals use Terminal A, so give your arrival terminal when you book.
Ride offers in the terminal. The airport asks travelers to ignore unauthorized ground transportation solicitors inside the terminal; go straight to the pickup zone for your booking.
