Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (SAI) opened in October 2023 in Soutr Nikom District, east of Siem Reap, and replaced the old airport (REP) near town. All flights use one passenger terminal with jet bridges, with arrivals on the lower level and departures above.
On arrival you go to the Visa on Arrival counter if you have no e-Visa, then through immigration, collect your bags and pass customs into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers. An ATM, a currency exchange desk and SIM card counters are in arrivals.
Cambodia is on Indochina Time (UTC+7) all year, with no daylight saving time. The riel is the currency, and US dollars are widely used.
Entry requirements and local notes
Visa and e-Arrival card. Most visitors need a visa: apply for an e-Visa at evisa.gov.kh or get one on arrival, paid in US dollars cash. Air travelers also complete the e-Arrival card at arrival.gov.kh within seven days before landing. Check the rules for your nationality before you fly.
New airport code. Flights to Siem Reap now land at SAI; the old REP airport near town is closed, so check that your ticket and hotel details refer to the new airport.
Clean dollar bills. US dollars are used everywhere alongside the riel, and torn or marked notes are often refused, so carry clean small bills.
Angkor Pass. Visiting the temples requires an Angkor Pass, sold at the official ticket center and online; your transfer does not include park entry.
