Thessaloniki Macedonia International Airport (SKG) is the main airport for northern Greece and the second busiest in the country, in Thermi by the Thermaic Gulf, southeast of the city. It has two terminals in one complex: Terminal 1, with gates 13–24, and Terminal 2, opened in 2021, with gates 01–12. You can walk between them.
Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, for example from the UK, Israel or Turkey, you queue at passport control. After baggage reclaim, follow the signs out of the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Greece is on Eastern European Time (EET), two hours ahead of the UK, and uses the euro.
