Providenciales International Airport (PLS) sits in the middle of the island of Providenciales and handles more than 90% of the air traffic of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It was renamed Howard Hamilton International Airport in 2023, but the original name remains in common use. Grand Turk and South Caicos have their own airports, reached on domestic flights from the same terminal.
There is one terminal building for international and domestic flights. You show your passport, an onward or return ticket and the airline's paper immigration form in an immigration hall with 18 desks, where lines are longest on Saturdays and Sundays. Bags arrive on two belts just past immigration, then you pass customs and exit the terminal.
The airport, with customs and immigration, is open from 6 am to 8 pm. Turks and Caicos uses Eastern Time and observes daylight saving time.
Entry requirements and local notes
Entry to Turks and Caicos. You need a valid passport and a valid onward or return ticket. US, UK and Canadian passports must be valid for the length of your stay, while other nationalities need six months of validity. Many nationalities need no visa.
Paper immigration form. Fill in the airline's paper immigration form in black or blue ink; home-printed copies are not accepted.
Customs allowance. A customs form is only needed if you carry goods above the duty-free allowance, and officers hand it out at customs.
US dollar and left-hand traffic. The US dollar is the official currency, and traffic drives on the left, which matters if you plan to rent a car for part of your stay.
