Zakynthos International Airport Dionysios Solomos (ZTH), named after the island-born poet, is close to Zakynthos Town and Laganas Bay. All flights use a single terminal, completed in 2008, and Fraport Greece runs the airport. Arriving planes cross Laganas Bay and land over Kalamaki beach.
Flights from Athens and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. Passengers from outside the Schengen area, as many summer visitors from the UK are, queue at passport control. On summer weekends, when many charter flights land close together, the terminal can be very crowded. Once you have your bags, head outside to the pick-up area, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers.
Because loggerhead sea turtles nest on the beaches of the National Marine Park around Laganas Bay, no flights take off or land between 22:00 and 05:00. Greece is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and switches to UTC+3 for daylight saving time from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen entry. Greece is in the Schengen area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Night curfew. No flights land between 22:00 and 05:00, so a delayed evening flight may be diverted or rescheduled. If that happens, tell customer service so we can move your pickup.
Zakynthos or Zante. Zante is the Italian-derived name many visitors use for the island; flights, bookings and road signs may use either name.
Euro and cash. Greece uses the euro; carry some cash for small purchases.
