Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA) is the airport of Ajaccio on the west coast of Corsica, about 5 km east of the city on the shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio, and the main base of Air Corsica. All flights use one passenger terminal, with check-in, departures and arrivals in the same building.
Most flights arrive from mainland France or other Schengen Area countries, so there is usually no passport control: you walk from the aircraft to baggage claim and out into the arrivals area. Passengers on a flight from outside the Schengen Area pass border control first. The information desk in the center of the terminal is open from the first to the last flight.
Corsica is on Central European Time (UTC+1), and on Central European Summer Time (UTC+2) from late March to late October.
Entry requirements and local notes
Schengen Area. Flights from mainland France and other Schengen countries arrive with no border check, but airlines require a valid passport or EU national ID card to board.
Arrivals from outside Schengen. Non-EU travelers arriving from outside the Schengen Area pass border control, where the EU Entry/Exit System registers fingerprints and a facial image at the first entry. Check whether you need a visa for France before you travel.
Euro. France uses the euro (EUR). Cards are widely accepted, but carry some cash for small cafés and village shops.
Summer season. Many routes and hotels operate only in the summer, and July and August bring heavy traffic on the roads around Ajaccio.
