Also known as: Ajaccio Airport, Aéroport d'Ajaccio, AJA Airport, Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport, Napoleon Bonaparte Airport. Formerly Campo dell'Oro Airport.
AJA · LFKJ · Ajaccio
Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport (AJA) is the airport of Ajaccio, the main city on the west coast of Corsica, France. It is the main base and headquarters of Air Corsica, which flies year-round to Paris–Orly, Marseille, Nice, Lyon and Toulouse. Air France also flies to Paris–Orly, and in the summer season easyJet, Volotea, Transavia, Luxair and Norwegian add flights from cities in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Norway, while Air Corsica adds routes to Munich, Rome, Venice and Zurich.
All flights use one passenger terminal, with check-in, departures and arrivals in the same building. The airport handled about 1.59 million passengers in 2025, with traffic peaking in July and August.
The airport lies on the shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio, about 5 km east of the city, so the drive to the old town, the port and Place Foch is usually 15 to 20 minutes, longer in summer traffic. From the airport, travelers head into Ajaccio and out along the Route des Sanguinaires, across the gulf to Porticcio, north to Cargèse and Porto, or south toward Propriano.

Most flights to Ajaccio come from mainland France or other Schengen Area countries, so in most cases there is no passport control on arrival; carry your passport or national ID card all the same, as airlines ask for it. If your flight comes from outside the Schengen Area, you pass border control first.
Follow the signs to baggage claim in the terminal, collect your bags and walk out into the arrivals area. The information desk in the center of the terminal is staffed from the first to the last flight and can help with bus times, parking and baggage claims. If your bag is missing or damaged, report it before you leave the baggage hall.
Taxis wait outside the terminal from the first to the last arriving flight, and the line 8 bus leaves for the city center. If you booked a pickup, your driver meets you in the arrivals area once you are through baggage claim. Corsica is on Central European Time (UTC+1, UTC+2 in summer), and the currency is the euro.
Taxis and pre-booked transfers meet every flight, while the bus suits light travelers going into central Ajaccio.

The Muvistrada line 8 shuttle bus links the airport with the city center, near the train station and the port. It runs to a timetable rather than all day, so check the times before you land; it suits light travelers.
Car rental companies serve the airport, and a car is useful for exploring Corsica's coast and mountain villages. Roads outside Ajaccio are narrow and winding, so allow extra time.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals area and drives you to your hotel or rental in Ajaccio, Porticcio or elsewhere on the island. It suits families and groups with luggage.

Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport is about 5 km east of Ajaccio, on the shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio. The drive to the old town, the port and Place Foch usually takes 15 to 20 minutes, but summer traffic on the main road into the city can make it longer, especially in July and August.
Ajaccio Airport has one passenger terminal. Check-in, departures, arrivals and baggage claim are all in the same building, and every airline uses it, so you cannot go to the wrong terminal. Check-in desks were renewed in 2026, with 20 new desks in service for the summer season.

Yes. The Muvistrada line 8 shuttle bus links the airport with central Ajaccio, near the train station and the port. It runs to a timetable rather than continuously, so check the current times with the operator or the airport information desk before you land. It suits travelers with light luggage and no tight schedule.
Yes. Taxis wait outside the terminal building from the first to the last arriving flight of the day. The ride to central Ajaccio usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Families and groups with a lot of luggage often pre-book a transfer instead, so a vehicle of the right size is waiting when they land.
Usually not. Almost all flights to Ajaccio come from mainland France or other Schengen Area countries, so there is no border check on arrival. You still need a valid passport or EU national ID card to fly. Passengers on a flight from outside the Schengen Area pass border control, where the EU Entry/Exit System applies to non-EU travelers.
The airport was formerly known as Campo dell'Oro Airport, and the road to it is still called Route de Campo dell'Oro. Today it is named Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport, after Napoleon, who was born in Ajaccio. Its IATA code is AJA.
Ajaccio Napoleon Bonaparte Airport handled about 1.59 million passengers in 2025, slightly fewer than in 2024. Traffic is strongly seasonal: it rises sharply from spring and peaks in July and August, when many summer-only routes from France and the rest of Europe operate, so the terminal and roads are busy then.
Ajaccio Airport has several parking areas. P0 in front of the terminal is for quick drop-offs and pickups, P1 is the main short-stay parking area beside the terminal, P2 is for long stays, and P4 Littoral and P5 Aéroclub, about 300 m away, add more spaces. Pay at the terminal machines or by card at the exit.
Ask your airline or travel agent for assistance at least 48 hours before you fly. At Ajaccio, assistance is provided by Ambulance Pomi on behalf of the airport. If you arrive at the airport by car, call the free number 0 800 005 007 for help from the parking area or curb to the departures hall.
The terminal has an information desk open from the first to the last flight, an ATM, free Wi-Fi and a charging station, a baby changing area, a tourist information kiosk, a bar-brasserie and snack counters, a duty-free shop, a Corsican products shop, a newsagent and a business center.
Corsica has four airports with scheduled flights: Ajaccio (AJA) on the west coast, Bastia (BIA) in the northeast, Calvi (CLY) in the northwest and Figari (FSC) in the far south near Porto-Vecchio and Bonifacio. Check that your ticket shows AJA if you are staying in or around Ajaccio, because the drives between them are long.
Ajaccio, like the rest of France, is on Central European Time, UTC+1, and switches to Central European Summer Time, UTC+2, from late March to late October. The currency is the euro (EUR), and cards are widely accepted across Ajaccio, including at the airport's shops and cafés in the terminal.
