Brindisi Airport (BDS) is the airport for Brindisi, Lecce and the Salento peninsula, at the southern end of Puglia in Italy. Its official Italian name is Aeroporto del Salento, and it is also known as Papola Casale, after the district where it stands. It handled about 3.4 million passengers in 2024.
Ryanair flies the most routes, to cities across Italy and Europe, alongside ITA Airways, which links Brindisi with Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate. easyJet, Swiss, Wizz Air and Eurowings fly year-round, and in summer British Airways, Aer Lingus, Brussels Airlines, Transavia, Volotea and other airlines add routes from London, Dublin, Brussels, Paris and more.
All flights use one terminal, with arrivals and baggage claim on the ground floor and security and the departure gates on the first floor.
The airport stands about 6 km (4 miles) north of Brindisi city center and its port, a 10 to 15 minute drive. From here, travelers head south to Lecce, about 40 km away, and the beaches and towns of the Salento, or northwest to Ostuni and the countryside masserie of the Adriatic coast.

Flights from Italy and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK, you line up at passport control, where non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES).
Brindisi has one terminal, so there is no terminal to choose. Baggage claim and customs lead into the arrivals hall on the ground floor, where you find ATMs, tourist information and the car rental desks. In summer the terminal gets busy, so allow extra time at baggage claim.
Official taxis wait outside the arrivals exit. The STP Brindisi airport bus runs to Brindisi railway station, the city center and the port, and Pugliairbus coaches leave for Lecce and Taranto a few times a day. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you in the arrivals hall.
Italy is on Central European Time and uses the euro.
The STP bus is the cheap way into Brindisi; for Lecce, Ostuni or a masseria with luggage, a taxi or pre-booked car saves changes and waiting.
STP Brindisi runs an airport bus about every 30 minutes, from early morning until around midnight, to Brindisi railway station, the city center and the Costa Morena port. The station is about 10 to 15 minutes away, and trains continue to Lecce and Bari.
COTRAP's Pugliairbus coaches link the airport with Lecce in about 40 minutes, and with Taranto and Bari airport. There are only a few departures a day, so check the timetable before you land.
Official taxis wait outside the arrivals exit and reach Brindisi city center in 10 to 15 minutes. Longer trips to Lecce or Ostuni are charged by the meter or agreed before you set off.
Several international and local car rental companies have desks in the arrivals area, and the SS379 highway runs past the airport toward Ostuni and Bari and south toward Lecce.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals hall and drives straight to your address in Brindisi, Lecce, Ostuni or the countryside, which suits families, groups and late arrivals.

Brindisi Airport is about 6 km (4 miles) north of Brindisi city center, in the Casale district. A taxi or pre-booked car takes 10 to 15 minutes, and the STP airport bus reaches the railway station in about the same time before continuing to the city center and the Costa Morena port.
Lecce is about 40 km (25 miles) south of Brindisi Airport, usually a 35 to 45 minute drive on the SS613 highway. Pugliairbus coaches run direct to Lecce in about 40 minutes a few times a day, or you can take the STP bus to Brindisi station and a regional train from there.
Yes. Brindisi Airport's official Italian name is Aeroporto del Salento, and it is also called Papola Casale after the district where it stands. Its code is BDS. It is the main airport for Brindisi, Lecce and the Salento peninsula, so any flight to Salento lands here.
No. Puglia has two main airports. Brindisi Airport (BDS) serves Brindisi, Lecce and the Salento in the south of the region, while Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI) is more than 100 km farther northwest and serves Bari and central Puglia. Check the airport code on your ticket before you plan your onward trip.
Brindisi Airport has one passenger terminal for every domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen flight. Arrivals and baggage claim are on the ground floor, and security and the 13 departure gates are on the first floor. Because there is only one building, everyone who lands exits into the same arrivals hall.
Yes. STP Brindisi runs an airport bus about every 30 minutes from early morning until around midnight. It stops at Brindisi railway station, about 10 to 15 minutes away, then the city center along Via del Mare and the Costa Morena port, where ferries dock, about 30 minutes from the airport.
Yes. COTRAP's Pugliairbus coaches run from Brindisi Airport to Lecce in about 40 minutes, but there are only a few departures a day, so check the timetable before you land. Another option is the STP bus to Brindisi station and a regional train to Lecce, which takes about 30 minutes.
Not yet. A rail link connecting the airport with the Adriatic railway line has been under construction since 2023. Until it opens, take the STP airport bus to Brindisi railway station, about 10 to 15 minutes away, where regional trains run south to Lecce and north to Ostuni and Bari.
Ostuni, the white town on the hills above the Adriatic, is about 35 km northwest of the airport, usually a 30 to 40 minute drive on the SS379. By public transportation, take the STP bus to Brindisi station and a regional train to Ostuni, then a local bus or taxi up to the old town.
Official taxis wait at the stand outside the arrivals exit on the ground floor. The ride to Brindisi city center takes 10 to 15 minutes. Trips farther afield, to Lecce, Ostuni or a masseria in the countryside, are charged by the meter or agreed with the driver before you set off.
Ryanair flies the most routes from Brindisi, across Italy and Europe, and ITA Airways links it with Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate. easyJet, Swiss, Wizz Air and Eurowings fly year-round, and in summer British Airways, Aer Lingus, Brussels Airlines, Transavia, Volotea, Luxair and others add seasonal routes.
Italy is in the Schengen area, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and arrivals from outside it, such as the UK, go through passport control. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), with fingerprints and a photo. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
A covered parking lot faces the terminal at Brindisi Airport and is linked to it by covered walkways, so you can walk to check-in without crossing the road outside. Aeroporti di Puglia runs the parking; check availability and current rates on the airport website before you travel.
