Wizz Air is a low-cost airline founded in Hungary in 2003. It operated its first flight on 19 May 2004 from Katowice, Poland, and its operational headquarters is in Budapest. The group's holding company, Wizz Air Holdings Plc, is listed on the London Stock Exchange, and flights are operated by Wizz Air Hungary, Wizz Air UK and Wizz Air Malta. Wizz Air is not a member of an airline alliance.

Instead of a single hub, Wizz Air bases aircraft at dozens of airports, mainly in Central and Eastern Europe, with bases in Italy, the United Kingdom and Cyprus as well. Budapest is its home base, and its largest bases include London Luton, Bucharest, Warsaw, Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa. From these bases it flies about 200 destinations in more than 50 countries, mostly point-to-point leisure and visiting-friends routes.

The fleet is made up entirely of Airbus A320-family aircraft, mostly the A321neo.

Network

Where Wizz Air flies

Routes and frequencies change with the season, and many leisure routes are summer-only or winter-only. Wizz Air does not sell connecting itineraries on most routes, so allow enough time if you book two separate flights.

Central and Eastern Europe

The core of the network: Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Western Balkans and the Baltic states, linked to cities across Europe.

Western Europe and the UK

Major cities and secondary airports in the UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, the Benelux countries and the Nordic countries.

Leisure destinations

Seasonal flights to the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Greek islands, Cyprus, Malta, Croatia, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco.

Beyond Europe

Selected routes to the Caucasus, including Georgia and Armenia. Wizz Air does not fly to North or South America.

Older aircraft that are being phased out as new A321neos arrive.

On board

Wizz Air cabin classes

Wizz Air has a single economy cabin. What you get beyond your seat depends on the fare bundle and extras you buy.

Basic fare

A seat and one small carry-on bag that fits under the seat in front. Seat selection, larger cabin bags and checked bags cost extra.

Fare bundles

Bundles such as WIZZ Smart and WIZZ Plus add items such as priority boarding with a larger cabin bag, checked baggage and seat selection. What is included depends on the bundle.

WIZZ Class

Row 1 with the middle seats left empty and a complimentary non-alcoholic drink and snack, available with selected bundles.

Extra-legroom seats

Seats in the front rows and at the emergency exits with more legroom, sold as a seat option.

Practical information

Baggage Cabin bags, checked bags, missing luggage

Wizz Air allowances depend on the fare, the bundle and the extras you add. Your allowance is shown in your booking.

Personal item

Every passenger may bring one carry-on bag of up to 10 kg, no larger than 40 x 30 x 20 cm, that fits under the seat in front.

WIZZ Priority cabin bag

With WIZZ Priority or a bundle that includes it, you may also bring a trolley bag of up to 10 kg, no larger than 55 x 40 x 23 cm.

Checked baggage

Checked bags are bought as extras or come with some bundles, in several weight options. Buy them when you book or in My Bookings before you go to the airport.

Special items

Sports equipment, musical instruments, mobility aids and other special items follow separate rules. Check the official Wizz Air baggage page before you fly.

Check-in and boarding Steps before departure

Online check-in on wizzair.com or the Wizz Air app opens 30 days before departure if you have bought a seat, or 24 hours before if you have not, and closes 3 hours before departure. Be at the boarding gate with your boarding pass and documents at least 30 minutes before departure.

  1. 1 Confirm

Confirm the airport and terminal; Wizz Air often uses secondary airports.

  2. 2 Documents

Review passport, visa and ID requirements for your destination.

  3. 3 Check in

Check in online or in the app before check-in closes, and add any bags you need in advance.

  4. 4 Boarding pass

Download the mobile boarding pass or print it; some airports require a printed pass.

  5. 5 Arrive early

Allow time for bag drop, security and passport control, and reach the gate before it closes.

Lounges

Wizz Air fares and bundles do not include lounge access. At many airports, independent lounges sell entry to any passenger; check the airport's own website for locations and opening hours.

Loyalty program

Wizz Air does not run a points-based frequent-flyer program. The WIZZ Discount Club is a paid annual membership that gives members discounted fares and baggage on eligible bookings, and Wizz Air also sells subscription and travel-credit products such as WIZZ MultiPass. Conditions change, so check the current terms before you buy.
