International Terminal
Opened in 1997, it handles all international and cross-strait flights, with jet bridges at every gate. Arrivals are on the 1st floor and departures on the 3rd floor.
También conocido como: Kaohsiung Airport, KHH Airport, Kaohsiung Xiaogang Airport, Siaogang Airport, Xiaogang Airport.

Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) is the main gateway to Kaohsiung and southern Taiwan, in the Xiaogang District on the southern side of the city. China Airlines and EVA Air both fly from here, alongside Tigerair Taiwan and many regional airlines, with routes to Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and cities in mainland China. Uni Air, Mandarin Airlines and Daily Air link Kaohsiung with Taiwan's outlying islands, including Penghu and Kinmen, and with Hualien.
The airport has two terminals side by side, joined by a corridor: the International Terminal for international and cross-strait flights, and the older Domestic Terminal for flights within Taiwan.
The airport sits about 8 km from central Kaohsiung. The Kaohsiung Metro Red Line stops at Kaohsiung International Airport Station (R4), beneath the terminals, and runs north to Kaohsiung Main Station and Zuoying, where the Taiwan High Speed Rail stops. By road, downtown is usually 20 to 30 minutes away without traffic.
From the airport, travelers head to the Love River and Pier-2 Art Center, Cijin Island, Lotus Pond and Zuoying, the Fo Guang Shan Monastery, and further south to Kenting at the tip of Taiwan.

Before you fly, complete the Taiwan Arrival Card online; paper arrival cards were discontinued on 1 October 2025, and the online card can be submitted up to three days before arrival. Many nationalities can enter Taiwan visa-free for a set period.
International flights arrive at the International Terminal. Follow the Arrivals signs to immigration, collect your bags in the baggage claim hall and pass through customs into the arrival hall on the 1st floor. Taiwan is strict about meat products, so do not carry any. Flights from Penghu, Kinmen and other domestic points arrive at the Domestic Terminal, whose arrival lobby is also on the 1st floor, next door.
Taxi stands are outside the 1st-floor arrival exits of both terminals, and bus stops are on the curb outside. The Kaohsiung Metro station is below the terminals: use Exit 6 for the International Terminal or Exit 2 for the Domestic Terminal. Car rental counters are across the road from Exit 7 of the International Terminal.
Taiwan is on UTC+8 all year with no daylight saving time, and the currency is the New Taiwan dollar (TWD).
The metro suits light travelers heading downtown or to the high-speed rail at Zuoying, while taxis and pre-booked transfers go door to door.
Kaohsiung International Airport Station (R4) is below the terminals, reached by Exit 6 from the International Terminal and Exit 2 from the Domestic Terminal. Trains reach Kaohsiung Main Station in about 18 minutes and Zuoying, for the high-speed rail, in about 28 minutes. Pay with an EasyCard or iPass.
Metered taxis wait at the stands outside the 1st-floor arrival exits of both terminals. Downtown Kaohsiung is usually 20 to 30 minutes away without traffic. Have your address written in Chinese to show the driver.
Coaches to Fangliao and Kenting leave from the stops outside the arrival halls. The trip to Kenting takes several hours with stops, so it suits travelers with time and light luggage.
Local buses, including route 9117, stop outside both terminals. Check the Kaohsiung iBus app for schedules before you travel.
Car rental desks are across the road from Exit 7 of the International Terminal, with more at the Car Rental Center. You need an international driving permit along with your license and passport.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrival hall after customs and drives you directly to your hotel in Kaohsiung, to Zuoying or on to Kenting, which suits families and groups with luggage.

Yes. Kaohsiung International Airport stands in Xiaogang District, also spelled Siaogang, so many locals call it Xiaogang Airport. It is the only airport in Kaohsiung with scheduled passenger flights, and its code is KHH. If your ticket shows KHH, you are flying into this airport in southern Taiwan.
China Airlines and EVA Air both fly from Kaohsiung, along with Tigerair Taiwan, Cathay Pacific, HK Express, Peach, Jeju Air, T'way Air, AirAsia, VietJet Air, Vietnam Airlines, Thai Airways and United Airlines, among others. Uni Air, Mandarin Airlines and Daily Air operate domestic flights to Penghu, Kinmen, Hualien and the smaller islands.
Yes. Kaohsiung International Airport Station (R4) on the Red Line is right below the terminals. Use Exit 6 from the International Terminal or Exit 2 from the Domestic Terminal. Trains run north to Kaohsiung Main Station in about 18 minutes and to Zuoying in about 28 minutes. You can pay with an EasyCard or iPass.
Take the Kaohsiung Metro Red Line from the airport station to Zuoying, about 28 minutes, where the Taiwan High Speed Rail stops at Zuoying Station. Trains continue north to Tainan, Taichung and Taipei. A taxi or private transfer from the airport to Zuoying is the door-to-door alternative if you are carrying heavy luggage.
Coaches to Fangliao and Kenting leave from the stops outside the arrival halls, but the trip takes several hours with stops along the way. By road, Kenting is about two hours from Kaohsiung. Many travelers heading to Kenting with luggage or children choose a private transfer, which goes straight to their hotel.
Metered taxis wait at the official stands outside the 1st-floor arrival exits of both terminals. Join the line at the stand rather than accepting offers inside the hall. Have your hotel name and address written in Chinese, or ready to show on your phone, before you get in, since that is how most drivers find addresses.
Yes. Since 1 October 2025, Taiwan only accepts the online Taiwan Arrival Card, and paper cards are no longer handed out. Submit it on the official website up to three days before you land; one person can fill it in for a group. Travelers who arrive without it must complete it online before immigration.
It depends on your nationality. Citizens of many countries can enter Taiwan visa-free for a set period, while others need a visa or an online travel authorization before they fly. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from arrival. Check the current rules with Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs before you travel.
Yes. The International Terminal has an EVA Air VIP Lounge and a China Airlines lounge on the departures side, open to eligible passengers of those airlines and their alliance partners. Opening hours follow each airline's departures; the EVA Air lounge opens at 05:00 and closes in the evening after its last flight. Both are airside, past security and passport control.
No. The terminals close overnight, and you cannot stay inside between the last and first flights. The International Terminal opens early in the morning, before the first departures, and closes around midnight, while the Domestic Terminal keeps shorter daytime hours. If you have an early flight, plan to arrive after the terminal opens.
Kaohsiung is on Taiwan time, UTC+8, all year with no daylight saving time. The currency is the New Taiwan dollar (TWD). Bank of Taiwan and Mega Bank have exchange counters in the International Terminal, and ATMs are available. Cards are accepted in hotels and larger shops, but carry some cash for small vendors and night markets.
No. Kaohsiung International Airport is in southern Taiwan, at the opposite end of the island from Taipei. Taipei is served by Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Songshan Airport (TSA).
