Sobre Marseille Provence Airport

Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) is the main airport for Marseille, France. It sits in Marignane, on the shore of the Étang de Berre, about 27 km northwest of the city center, and handled about 11.3 million passengers in 2025.

Air France flies to Paris and Lyon, and Air Corsica links the airport with Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Figari. Ryanair, easyJet, Volotea and Transavia cover much of Europe, while Air Algérie, Royal Air Maroc, Tunisair and Nouvelair connect Marseille with Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. Network carriers fly to their hubs in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Istanbul, London and Madrid, and Air Transat flies to Montréal.

There are two terminals: Terminal 1, rebuilt in 2024 and made up of Hall A and Hall B, and Terminal 2 (MP2), used by Ryanair, easyJet and Aer Lingus. Buses leave from a bus station between the two buildings, and Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence train station is a short shuttle ride away.

From the airport, most travelers continue to central Marseille and the Saint-Charles station, Aix-en-Provence, the fishing port and calanques of Cassis, or the Marseille cruise terminals, with trains from Vitrolles running on to other towns in Provence.

Consejos de llegada a Marseille Provence Airport

On flights from inside the Schengen Area you walk straight to baggage claim; from other countries you pass passport control first. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation.

After collecting your bags and passing customs, you come out into the arrivals area of your terminal. Check whether you landed at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 (MP2), since pick-up points and walking routes differ.

Official taxis wait at the marked rank outside arrivals; take the first car in line rather than accepting offers from people inside the hall. If you booked a driver, they usually meet you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Buses to Marseille Saint-Charles and Aix-en-Provence leave from the bus station between the terminals, and a shuttle bus runs to Vitrolles train station.

Marseille has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and a strong mistral wind at times. The time zone is Central European Time with daylight saving, and the currency is the euro.

Transporte terrestre

The L91 shuttle bus to Saint-Charles suits most travelers heading into Marseille, while taxis or a pre-booked transfer work better for Cassis or the cruise port.

  • Taxi from Marseille airport

Taxis wait at the official rank outside arrivals. The ride to central Marseille takes about 30 minutes in light traffic, but rush-hour congestion on the A7 can make it much longer.

  • Shuttle bus to Saint-Charles

The L91 Navette Marseille Aéroport leaves from platform 6 of the airport bus station at least every 20 minutes and reaches Marseille Saint-Charles station in about 25 to 30 minutes. It is the simplest public link, though it can be crowded in summer.

  • Bus to Aix-en-Provence

Line 40 leaves from platform 3 about every 30 minutes, stopping at Aix TGV station before the Aix bus station, a trip of at least 30 minutes.

  • Train via Vitrolles station

The L13 shuttle bus from platform 5 reaches Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille Provence station in about 5 minutes. TER trains from there reach Marseille Saint-Charles in 15 to 20 minutes, but the change adds waiting time.

  • Private transfer

A pre-booked driver meets you in arrivals and takes you directly to Cassis, the cruise terminals or hotels across Provence, which avoids changes with luggage.

  • Rideshare

Uber operates at Marseille Provence Airport; follow the app's instructions to the pick-up point outside the terminal. The trip to central Marseille is about 27 km.
