Sobre Zadar Airport

Zadar Airport (ZAD) is the airport for Zadar, on Croatia's Adriatic coast, and for northern Dalmatia. It stands in Zemunik Donji, about 8 km (5 miles) east of Zadar city center, close to the Zadar 2 exit of the A1 highway between Zagreb and Split.

Most flights are seasonal and run from spring to autumn. Ryanair flies the most routes, to cities across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, Poland and Italy, while Croatia Airlines links Zadar with Zagreb and Pula all year. easyJet, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Edelweiss, Brussels Airlines, Luxair, Transavia, Wizz Air, Air Serbia and Scandinavian carriers add summer flights. The airport handled about 1.64 million passengers in 2025. It is also a training base for the Croatian Air Force.

Passengers use one terminal. A new departures section, opened in July 2026, roughly doubled its capacity, and arrivals use the existing building, with the taxi stand directly opposite the arrivals exit.

From the airport, most travelers head into Zadar's Old Town and the hotel area at Borik, to the Gaženica ferry port for the islands, north to Nin, or south along the coast to Sukošan and Biograd na Moru.

Consejos de llegada a Zadar Airport

Flights from Croatia and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK or Serbia, you go through passport control, where non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES).

Zadar has one passenger terminal, so there is no terminal to choose. Arriving passengers collect their bags in the arrivals area of the existing building, then pass customs into the arrivals hall. If a bag is missing or damaged, report it at the Lost and Found office before you leave. An information desk can help with questions, and car rental desks are close to the terminal.

Outside, the taxi stand is directly opposite the arrivals exit, and taxis run 24 hours a day. The Liburnija airport bus leaves from the bus pickup zone in front of the terminal for Gaženica ferry port, Zadar bus station and the Old Town; its timetable is set month by month around flights. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you as you come out of the arrivals hall.

Croatia is on Central European Time and uses the euro.

Transporte terrestre

The airport bus is the cheapest way into Zadar; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage or for addresses outside the city.

  • Airport bus to Zadar

Liburnija Zadar runs the airport bus from the bus pickup zone in front of the terminal to Gaženica ferry port, Zadar bus station and the Old Town, in about 20 minutes to the Old Town. The ticket includes your luggage and is valid on city buses for 90 minutes; the timetable is published monthly.

  • Taxi from Zadar airport

The taxi stand is directly opposite the arrivals exit, and taxis are available 24 hours a day. A taxi goes door to door to the Old Town, Borik or the ferry port.

  • Car rental

Several car rental companies have desks at the airport, with their cars in the rental area beside the terminal. A car suits trips inland or along the coast.

  • Private transfer

A pre-booked car meets you at the arrivals exit, useful for families, groups, late arrivals and trips to Nin, Biograd na Moru or farther along the coast.

Zadar has one passenger terminal, used by every airline. A new departures section opened in July 2026 and roughly doubled the airport's capacity, to up to 3 million passengers a year. Arriving passengers collect their bags and pass customs in the existing building, then exit to the taxi stand and bus pickup zone.

Which airlines fly to Zadar?

Are flights to Zadar seasonal?

Mostly, yes. Most routes to Zadar run from spring to autumn, with the busiest schedule in summer, while Croatia Airlines flies to Zagreb and Pula all year. Check the airport's published timetable for flights outside the summer season, because routes, days and airlines change between the summer and winter schedules.

Is Zadar airport the same as Zemunik airport?

Yes. Zadar Airport stands in the village of Zemunik Donji, so it is sometimes called Zemunik Airport, and in Croatian it is Zračna luka Zadar. Its code is ZAD. It is the only commercial airport serving Zadar and northern Dalmatia, so any flight to Zadar lands here.

What do I need to enter Croatia at Zadar airport?

Croatia is in the Schengen area, so flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and arrivals from outside it, such as the UK or Serbia, go through passport control. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.

Is there parking at Zadar airport?

Yes. The public parking lot is in front of the passenger terminal and is charged by the hour, with the first 10 minutes free once every 24 hours. You pay by cash or card at the payment station; daily tickets are not sold. There are also 16 spaces for people with reduced mobility near the terminal.

Is there free Wi-Fi at Zadar airport?

Yes. Zadar Airport offers free Wi-Fi to passengers in the terminal. Restaurants and cafés are open both before and after security, and a duty-free shop is in the departures area, so you can get online and eat while you wait for your flight.

How do I get from Zadar airport to the ferry port?

The Liburnija airport bus stops at Gaženica ferry port, southeast of the Old Town, on its way from the airport into Zadar, so you can reach the island ferries without changing buses. A taxi or pre-booked car takes you straight to the port, which is easier with luggage or a tight sailing time.
