Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) is the airport of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, in the Bole district southeast of the city center, and the hub of Ethiopian Airlines. It has two passenger terminals side by side: Terminal 2 handles international flights and Terminal 1 handles domestic flights.
After you leave the aircraft, follow the signs to immigration; if you are connecting to another flight, follow the transfer signs instead and stay airside. Immigration lines can be long when several long-haul flights land together. Collect your bags in baggage claim, then pass through customs into the Arrivals Hall, where you will find an ATM, a currency exchange counter and an Ethio Telecom SIM card counter.
The airport sits at about 2,334 m above sea level, so take it easy on your first day. Ethiopia is on East Africa Time (UTC+3) all year, with no daylight saving time.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Visa and e-visa. Most visitors need a visa. Apply online for an e-visa at evisa.gov.et before you travel; it is accepted on arrival at Bole. Some nationalities can also buy a visa on arrival.
Passport validity. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date you enter Ethiopia.
Ethiopian birr. Ethiopia uses the Ethiopian birr (ETB). Withdraw birr from the ATM in the Arrivals Hall, and carry some cash, as cards are not accepted everywhere.
Ethiopian clock. Many Ethiopians tell time on a local clock that starts counting at about 6 a.m. Give and confirm pickup times in international time.
Ride-hailing pickup. Ride and Feres drivers pick up at the app pickup area outside the terminal, not at the Arrivals Hall exit.
