Silvio Pettirossi International Airport (ASU) is the main airport of Asunción, Paraguay's capital, although it sits in the neighboring city of Luque, beside Ñu Guasú Park. All domestic and international flights use one terminal with two concourses: the south concourse (gates 1–4) and the north concourse (gates 5–6), whose arrivals hall was expanded in 2023.
You clear immigration first, then collect your bags and pass customs in the same building, so the walk from the gate to the exit is short. The terminal has one arrivals exit into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers wait.
Paraguay stays on UTC−3 all year and no longer changes its clocks for daylight saving time.
Entry documents. Bring a valid passport and check whether your nationality needs a visa. Citizens of Mercosur countries can enter Paraguay with their national ID card.
Offers in the arrivals hall. People sometimes approach arriving passengers inside the building offering rides. Decline politely and look for the driver holding your name sign.
Year-round time. Paraguay stopped changing its clocks in 2024 and stays on UTC−3 all year, so keep this in mind when you set the time of a return pickup.
Heat and humidity. Asunción summers, from December to February, are hot and humid, so keep water and light clothes in your carry-on.
