São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport (GRU) is São Paulo's main international airport. It sits in the neighboring city of Guarulhos, in the Cumbica district, which is why it is also called Guarulhos or Cumbica airport.
There are three passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles Azul's domestic flights, Terminal 2 handles GOL and LATAM domestic flights plus several international airlines, and Terminal 3 handles international flights only. Terminals 2 and 3 are linked on foot, while Terminal 1 stands apart and is reached by the free people mover or shuttle bus.
After an international flight you pass Federal Police immigration, collect your bags inside your terminal and clear customs (Receita Federal); the arrivals hall is just past the customs exit. São Paulo uses Brasília time (UTC-3) all year, with no daylight saving time.
Brazilian e-visa. Citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia have needed a Brazilian e-visa since April 10, 2025, applied for online before travel through the official VFS Global portal. Many other nationalities can enter visa-free for tourism; check the rules for your passport before you fly.
Confirm your terminal. Terminal 1 is separate from Terminals 2 and 3, and some airlines fly both domestic and international from different buildings. Check your arrival terminal with your airline and give it when you book.
Ignore ride offers in the hall. People approaching you inside arrivals are not your driver. Look for your name sign and check the company name before you get in.
GRU is not Congonhas. São Paulo has a second airport, Congonhas (CGH), inside the city and for domestic flights only. Make sure your booking matches the airport on your ticket.
