Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) is the main international airport of Finland, in the city of Vantaa north of Helsinki, and the main hub of Finnair. It is run by state-owned Finavia.
All flights use a single terminal, the former Terminal 2, split into Schengen and non-Schengen areas. If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, you pass border control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries skip this step. All passengers collect their bags in the same baggage claim hall, then walk out through customs into the arrivals hall.
Helsinki is on Eastern European Time (UTC+2) and moves to UTC+3 for daylight saving time in summer, one hour ahead of Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen.
Requisitos de entrada y notas locales
Entry rules. Finland is in the Schengen Area and has no separate arrival form. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you travel.
Some cars pick up in P2. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall, but cars without a Finavia contract pick up in the P2 parking hall, reached directly from the arrivals hall. Check the meeting point in your confirmation.
Winter weather. Winters are cold and snowy and December days are very short. Keep warm clothes in your hand luggage, and allow extra time on winter return trips to the airport.
