Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO), usually called Porto Airport, lies northwest of central Porto, outside the city limits in the wider metropolitan area. It is operated by ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, part of VINCI Airports.
All flights use a single passenger terminal, with separate areas for Schengen and non-Schengen flights. If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control before reaching the baggage hall. Baggage reclaim and customs are on the arrivals level, and after customs you walk straight into the public arrivals hall.
Porto is on Western European Time (UTC+0) and moves to UTC+1 from late March to late October.
Entry rules. Portugal is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check passport validity and visa rules for your nationality before you travel.
Porto or Oporto. Some tickets and maps say Oporto. It is the same city and the same airport, code OPO.
Use the official rank. Licensed taxis wait at the marked rank outside the arrivals exit. Turn down offers from people inside the arrivals hall and look for your pre-booked driver with your name sign.
Rainy winters. Porto has a mild Atlantic climate with cool, rainy winters, so a light rain jacket is useful outside the summer months.
