Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is the main international airport for Taipei, in Dayuan District of Taoyuan City. Flights use two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, joined by a free Skytrain; China Airlines and Starlux use both, depending on the route. If you land at a Terminal 3 North Concourse gate, you walk back into Terminal 2 for immigration and baggage claim.
After immigration you collect your bags and pass customs, using the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You come out into the arrivals hall on the first floor (1F) of your terminal, where pre-booked drivers meet passengers and cars collect them at the numbered pickup points along the curb.
Taiwan is on UTC+8 all year, with no daylight saving time, and uses the New Taiwan dollar.
Entry requirements and local notes
Visa-free entry for many. Many nationalities can visit Taiwan visa-free for a limited stay; others need a visa. Check the rules for your passport with the Bureau of Consular Affairs before you fly.
Online arrival card. Every international arrival completes the online arrival card (TWAC) before landing; you can submit it in the three days before you arrive.
Check your airport. This page is for Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Some flights to Taipei land at Songshan Airport (TSA) inside the city instead, so check the code on your ticket.
Short curbside stops. Stopping time at the arrivals curb is short and enforced by camera, so walk out with your driver once you have your bags rather than waiting outside first.
