The Buquebus ferry terminal stands at Dársena Norte, on the Buenos Aires waterfront between Puerto Madero and Retiro. It is the main departure point for ferries across the Río de la Plata to Uruguay.
Boats sail to Colonia del Sacramento, a small colonial town with cobbled streets listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and to Montevideo, Uruguay's capital, either directly or with a bus connection from Colonia. Many travelers combine a stay in Buenos Aires with a day trip or a few nights in Uruguay.
Ferry passengers check in and clear Argentine and Uruguayan border control at the terminal before boarding, so they need their passport and should arrive well before the sailing time shown by the ferry company.
