Sobre Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) is the main international airport for Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. It handled about 24.3 million passengers in 2025.

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Norwegian run the largest networks, with flights across Sweden, the Nordic countries and Europe. Long-haul routes include Emirates to Dubai, Thai Airways to Bangkok and seasonal Delta Air Lines flights to New York, while Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM and Air France connect through their hubs.

Two terminals are in use. Terminal 5, the largest, handles domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen flights, and Terminal 2 serves several European airlines and some regional domestic flights. The former Terminal 4 gates, C30 to C44, are now part of Terminal 5.

Arlanda lies about 37 km north of central Stockholm and about 40 km southeast of Uppsala. Arlanda Express trains reach Stockholm Central Station in 18 minutes, and commuter trains, long-distance trains and airport coaches also serve the airport. From here, most travelers continue to central Stockholm, Uppsala, Gävle or Sundsvall.

Consejos de llegada a Stockholm Arlanda Airport

If your flight comes from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control before baggage claim. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and you then pass Swedish customs after collecting your bags. Arrivals at gates C30 to C44 exit through Terminal 5.

Arlanda Express leaves from Arlanda North under Terminal 5 and from Arlanda South for Terminal 2, while commuter and long-distance trains use Arlanda Central at SkyCity. Taxis contracted by Swedavia wait directly outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 5 and outside Terminal 2; look for the signs for approved taxis. Do not accept a ride offered inside the terminal, because only drivers with a pre-booked car may enter the arrivals hall to meet passengers. Ask the driver whether the company uses a fixed price before you set off.

Stockholm is on Central European Time with daylight saving in summer, and Sweden uses the Swedish krona (SEK). Winters are cold and dark, so pack warm layers from November to March.

Transporte terrestre

Arlanda Express suits most travelers heading to central Stockholm.

  • Arlanda Express train

Non-stop trains run from Arlanda North (Terminal 5) and Arlanda South (Terminal 2) to Stockholm Central Station in 18 minutes. It is the quickest option, but it only serves the city center.

  • Commuter train

SL commuter trains (pendeltåg) leave from Arlanda Central at SkyCity and take about 38 minutes to Stockholm Central and about 18 minutes to Uppsala. They are slower than Arlanda Express but stop at stations along the way.

  • Flygbussarna airport coach

Airport coaches run to Cityterminalen next to Stockholm Central Station in about 48 minutes, with a stop at Terminal 5. Journey times grow in heavy traffic.

  • Taxi from Arlanda airport

Swedavia-contracted taxis wait outside the arrivals hall at Terminal 5 and outside Terminal 2 and have a maximum fare within a marked zone around Stockholm. Prices are set freely in Sweden, so ask about a fixed price first.

  • Rideshare

Uber lists Arlanda pickups at Terminals 2 and 5 in its app; follow the in-app directions to the pickup point. Waits can be longer than at the taxi rank.

  • Private transfer

A pre-booked driver can meet you inside the arrivals hall and take you door to door. It must be arranged before you land.
