Dublin Airport (DUB) serves Dublin, the capital of Ireland, and is the country's main international gateway. It handled a record of about 36.4 million passengers in 2025.
Aer Lingus, Ireland's flag carrier, has its hub here, and Ryanair runs one of its largest bases from the airport. Flights reach London, Manchester and dozens of other UK and European cities, plus a long list of North American gateways such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Toronto and Washington. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways and Turkish Airlines link Dublin with Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi and Istanbul.
The airport has two terminals about a 10-minute walk apart. Terminal 1 handles most short-haul European flights, while Terminal 2 is home to Aer Lingus and the US airlines, and includes a US preclearance facility where passengers flying to the United States complete US immigration before departure.
The airport sits about 10 km north of Dublin city center, just south of Swords, and the drive into town usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. From here, travelers head to Dublin city center, Swords, Malahide, Dún Laoghaire, Belfast and Cork.

Ireland is not part of the Schengen Area, so every international arrival goes through Irish border control. An immigration officer checks your passport, any visa and supporting documents and, if you are admitted, stamps your passport with how long you may stay, up to 90 days for visitors. Adult EU, EEA and Swiss passport holders can use the eGates in both terminals.
After passport control, collect your bags in the baggage hall and pass through customs into the public arrivals hall. Check which terminal you landed at, since bus zones and taxi ranks are outside each one.
Official taxi ranks are directly outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with a dispatcher on hand. Dublin Express and Aircoach coaches leave from numbered zones outside both terminals, and Dublin Bus routes leave from Zone 15 near Terminal 1. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall with a name sign. Only take rides from the taxi rank or a driver you booked.
Dublin uses Irish time (GMT, or UTC+1 in summer) and the euro. The weather is mild but changeable, so keep a rain jacket handy.
Most travelers heading into Dublin city center take Dublin Express or Aircoach, while taxis suit late arrivals and groups with luggage.
Licensed taxis wait at official ranks outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and the ride to the city center takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Queues can build when several flights land together.
Coaches leave from Zone 1 at Terminal 1 and Zone 21 at Terminal 2 for stops including O'Connell Street, Trinity College, Temple Bar and Heuston Station. The trip to the center takes about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Aircoach leaves from Zone 2 at Terminal 1 and Zone 20 at Terminal 2, serving the city center, south Dublin suburbs and longer routes to Belfast and Cork. The city route takes about 30 to 40 minutes.
Public routes 16 and 41 run from Zone 15 outside Terminal 1 to the city center in about 30 to 50 minutes. They are slower than the coaches, with more stops and limited luggage space.
Apps such as Uber and FreeNow book licensed taxis at Dublin Airport rather than private cars. Pickup follows the airport's taxi arrangements outside each terminal.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you straight to your address. It needs to be arranged ahead of time.

Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are about a 10-minute walk apart, so most travelers switch terminals on foot.
Passengers connecting between flights can use the airport's dedicated Transfers Facility, which has its own immigration eGates.
If you are connecting to a flight to the United States, you clear US immigration and customs in Terminal 2 before boarding, so allow extra time.
The busier terminal, used by Ryanair and most other European and Middle Eastern airlines. It also handles the Canadian carriers.
Home to Aer Lingus and the transatlantic flights of the US airlines, with a US preclearance facility. It also serves British Airways, Emirates, Iberia Express and Vueling.

Dublin Airport is about 10 km north of Dublin city center. By taxi the trip usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, while Dublin Express coaches take about 15 to 30 minutes and Aircoach about 30 to 40 minutes. Public Dublin Bus routes are slower, at about 30 to 50 minutes, and rush-hour traffic can add time to every option.
No. Dublin Airport is in north County Dublin, outside the city proper, about 10 km north of the city center. The nearest town is Swords, just 2 to 3 km to the north. Coaches, public buses and taxis link the airport with the city, and there is currently no direct rail or tram connection to the terminals.
Dublin Airport has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which sit about a 10-minute walk apart. Terminal 1 is the busier of the two and handles most European flights, while Terminal 2 handles Aer Lingus and transatlantic services. Each terminal has its own taxi rank, bus zones and arrivals hall.
Terminal 2 is used by Aer Lingus, Emerald Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta, Emirates, Iberia Express, JetBlue, United Airlines and Vueling. Ryanair and most other airlines, including Air Canada, Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and WestJet, use Terminal 1. Check your booking, as airlines occasionally move terminals.
US preclearance is a facility in Terminal 2 where passengers flying to the United States complete US immigration and customs checks before boarding. You arrive in the US as a domestic passenger. It processed more than 2 million passengers over a 12-month period for the first time in 2025, so allow extra time before your flight.
Licensed taxis wait at official ranks directly outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and a dispatcher at the ranks helps direct passengers. The ride to Dublin city center usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. Taxis are metered and can also be requested through apps such as FreeNow. Use only the official ranks rather than accepting offers inside the terminal.
Yes. Dublin Express and Aircoach run coaches from zones outside both terminals to the city center, and public Dublin Bus routes 16 and 41 leave from Zone 15 at Terminal 1. Other TFI routes serve Swords, Malahide and north Dublin suburbs. There is no train or tram to the airport, although the Metrolink line has planning permission.
Yes, but in Ireland Uber books licensed taxis rather than private cars. You request a ride in the app and are matched with a licensed taxi driver, much like using FreeNow. Pickups follow the airport's taxi arrangements outside each terminal, and the app gives directions to your pickup point once you request a ride.
You need a valid passport and, depending on your nationality, an Irish visa. Ireland is not in the Schengen Area, so an Irish immigration officer checks your documents and decides how long you may stay, up to 90 days for visitors, then stamps your passport. Adult EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can use eGates in both terminals.
Aircoach runs a direct coach service from Dublin Airport to Belfast, leaving from its zones outside Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and other operators such as Ulsterbus Goldline also serve Northern Ireland. Belfast lies across the border in the United Kingdom, but travel between Ireland and Northern Ireland has no routine passport checks on the road.
Aircoach runs a coach from Dublin Airport to Cork, and Citylink serves Galway and the west, alongside Bus Éireann routes to other parts of Ireland. Many visitors also rent a car at the airport for longer trips. Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead Ireland routes cover nearer towns such as Swords, Malahide and Skerries.
Dublin is on GMT (UTC+0) in winter and Irish Standard Time (UTC+1) from late March to late October. Ireland uses the euro, and cards are widely accepted. The climate is mild and damp, with cool summers and few very cold winter days, so a waterproof layer is useful at any time of year.
Dublin Airport is operated by daa, the state-owned company formerly called Dublin Airport Authority. It handled a record of about 36.4 million passengers in 2025, up 5.1% on 2024. London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Manchester were its busiest routes, and it is the hub of Aer Lingus and a major base for Ryanair.
