Incheon International Airport (ICN) is the main international gateway for Seoul, South Korea. It sits on reclaimed land on Yeongjong Island in the city of Incheon, about 48 km west of central Seoul, and handled 74.07 million passengers in 2025.
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines fly long-haul routes to North America, Europe and Australia, while Jin Air, Jeju Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul focus on Japan, China and Southeast Asia. Foreign carriers include Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines. Japan, Southeast Asia and China together made up about two-thirds of passenger traffic in 2025.
The airport has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1, used by most foreign airlines and Jeju Air, and Terminal 2, home to Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, their sister airlines and SkyTeam partners. A free shuttle bus and the AREX airport railroad connect them.
From the airport, most travelers head to central Seoul, Myeongdong, Hongdae, Gangnam and Seoul Station, to Songdo and the rest of Incheon, or on to domestic connections at Gimpo Airport.

You first pass immigration, where foreign visitors are fingerprinted and photographed. Visa-exempt travelers need a K-ETA before departure unless their country is on the temporary exemption list valid through 31 December 2026, which includes the United States, the UK, Japan, Canada, Australia, France and Germany; travelers without a K-ETA complete the e-Arrival Card online within 72 hours before arrival.
After passport control, collect your bags in the baggage claim hall and go through customs. If you landed at Terminal 1 on a foreign airline, you may first ride the underground shuttle train from the concourse to the main building.
The arrivals hall is on the first floor of each terminal. Taxi stands are just outside the arrival exits, with separate lines for regular and deluxe taxis; ignore anyone inside the hall offering rides. Pre-booked drivers usually wait at the arrival exits with a name sign. Airport limousine bus counters and stops are along the same level, and AREX trains leave from the Transportation Center connected to each terminal.
Seoul has hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Korea Standard Time is UTC+9 with no daylight saving, and the currency is the South Korean won.
The AREX train suits most travelers bound for central Seoul, while limousine buses and taxis are easier with heavy luggage or for districts away from the rail line.
The non-stop express runs from the Transportation Center to Seoul Station in about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and 51 minutes from Terminal 2. It only stops at Seoul Station, so many travelers still need a metro or taxi connection.
The commuter train takes about 59 minutes from Terminal 1 and 66 minutes from Terminal 2 to Seoul Station, stopping at Gimpo Airport and Hongik University on the way. It connects with several metro lines but can be crowded at peak times.
Limousine buses run from stops outside the arrivals halls to hotels and districts across Seoul and the region, taking about 1.5 hours to central Seoul depending on traffic. They avoid transfers but are slower than the train.
Regular and deluxe taxis wait at the stands outside the arrivals areas of both terminals. The drive to central Seoul takes about 45 minutes to an hour without heavy traffic.
Kakao T and Uber Taxi work with foreign cards and international phone numbers, and drivers pick up at the taxi stands. They are useful if you do not speak Korean.
A pre-booked driver meets you at the arrival exit and drives you straight to your hotel, which is easiest for families and travelers with a lot of luggage.

Free inter-terminal buses leave from gate 8 on the third-floor departures level of Terminal 1, about every 7 minutes at busy times and up to every 20 minutes late at night. The ride to Terminal 2 takes about 16 minutes.
AREX airport railroad trains stop at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 stations, so you can ride one stop between them from the Transportation Center of each terminal.
Codeshare flights may leave from the operating airline's terminal, so check your e-ticket or the airport's flight search before you go.
The terminals are several kilometres apart, so allow extra time if you have to change terminals to check in.
