Zone A
Inter-island flights to the other Canary Islands.
También conocido como: Las Palmas Airport, LPA Airport, Gando Airport.
LPA · GCLP · Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) is the airport for the island of Gran Canaria, in Spain's Canary Islands. It stands on the Bay of Gando, on the island's east coast between Telde and Ingenio, about 19 km (12 miles) south of the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, beside the GC-1 highway that runs down the coast to the southern resorts.
Flights arrive from mainland Spain, the other Canary Islands and much of Europe. Binter Canarias and Canaryfly link Gran Canaria with Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma and the smaller islands, while Iberia, Air Europa, Vueling and Ryanair fly to Madrid and other Spanish cities. Holiday traffic comes from the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavia on Jet2.com, TUI, easyJet, Ryanair, Condor and Norwegian, among others. The airport handled about 15.8 million passengers in 2025.
All flights use one terminal, divided into zones: A for inter-island flights, B and C for Spanish and Schengen flights, and D for international flights outside the Schengen area. Arrivals and baggage claim are on the ground floor.
From the airport, most travelers head south to the resorts of Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, Meloneras, Puerto Rico and Puerto de Mogán, about 25 to 45 km away along the GC-1, or north into Las Palmas and its Las Canteras beach.

Flights from mainland Spain, the other Canary Islands and the rest of the Schengen area arrive without passport checks. If you come from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK or Ireland, you go through passport control first, where non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System; EU citizens can use the e-gates.
Gran Canaria has one terminal, and arrivals are on the ground floor. Check the screens for your carousel in one of the two baggage claim halls, and report lost or damaged bags at your airline's handling desk before you leave the hall. Customs is inside the baggage claim halls: the Canary Islands are outside the EU VAT and customs area, so duty-free limits apply even on flights from mainland Spain.
Past customs you come out into the arrivals hall, where pre-booked drivers and tour operator representatives wait. Car rental desks are in arrivals, the official taxi stand is outside on the ground floor, and Global buses leave from the stop on Floor 1, the departures level.
The Canary Islands are one hour behind mainland Spain, and Spain uses the euro.
Global buses are cheap and reach both Las Palmas and the southern resorts; a taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage, for families and for hotels away from the bus stops.
Line 60 runs between the airport and Las Palmas, with stops at San Telmo and the Santa Catalina interchange, about twice an hour during the day. Lines 1, 11 and 91 also link the airport with the city. Buses leave from the stop on Floor 1, the departures level.
Lines 66 and 90 run south to Bahía Feliz, Playa del Inglés and Faro de Maspalomas, about once an hour, and line 91 continues to Arguineguín and Puerto Rico. Line 1 runs to Puerto de Mogán. Buses stop more often than a car and run less often late in the evening.
Official taxis wait at the signposted taxi stand outside the terminal on the ground floor and run on the meter, with an airport supplement. Aena advises taking a taxi only from the signed stand.
Car rental desks are in the arrivals area, and the GC-1 highway runs past the airport to Las Palmas in the north and the resorts in the south.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals hall and drives door to door, useful for families, groups, late arrivals and the longer ride to Puerto de Mogán.

Gran Canaria Airport is about 19 km (12 miles) south of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the Bay of Gando beside the GC-1 highway. Global bus line 60 links the airport with San Telmo and the Santa Catalina interchange in the city, and taxis and pre-booked cars take the GC-1 north straight into the city.
The southern resorts of Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas are about 25 to 30 km south of the airport along the GC-1 highway. Global bus lines 66 and 90 run there about once an hour, ending at Faro de Maspalomas, and taxis, rental cars and pre-booked transfers take the highway directly to your hotel.
Puerto de Mogán is on the southwest coast, about 45 km from the airport, and the drive along the GC-1 takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Global bus line 1 runs from the airport to Puerto de Mogán, and line 91 serves Arguineguín and Puerto Rico on the way. A taxi or pre-booked car is easier with luggage.
Yes. Gran Canaria Airport, code LPA, is often called Las Palmas Airport because it serves the island's capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and some travelers call it Gando Airport after the bay it stands on. It is the only commercial airport on Gran Canaria, so every flight to the island lands here.
Gran Canaria has one terminal, divided into zones: A for inter-island flights, B and C for Spanish and Schengen flights, and D for international flights outside the Schengen area. Arrivals and the two baggage claim halls are on the ground floor, and every arriving passenger exits into the same arrivals hall.
Yes. Global runs the island's intercity buses, and several lines stop at the airport on Floor 1, the departures level. Line 60 goes to Las Palmas about twice an hour, lines 66 and 90 go south to Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas, line 91 serves Arguineguín and Puerto Rico, and line 1 runs to Puerto de Mogán.
Official taxis wait at the signposted taxi stand outside the terminal on the ground floor, the arrivals level. They run on the meter with an airport supplement and a higher night rate. Aena advises taking a taxi only from the signed stand and ignoring drivers who approach you elsewhere in the terminal.
Binter Canarias and Canaryfly connect Gran Canaria with the other Canary Islands, and Iberia, Air Europa, Vueling and Ryanair fly to Madrid and other Spanish cities. From the UK and Ireland, Jet2.com, TUI, easyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and Aer Lingus fly here, and Condor, Norwegian, Transavia and TUI fly from Germany, Scandinavia and the Netherlands.
The Canary Islands are part of Spain and the Schengen area, so flights from mainland Spain and other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks. Arrivals from outside it, such as the UK or Ireland, go through passport control, where non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026.
There can be. The Canary Islands are in the Schengen area but outside the EU VAT and customs area, so duty-free limits on tobacco, alcohol and other goods apply even on flights from mainland Spain and the rest of the EU. Customs is inside the ground-floor baggage claim halls, and the same rules apply again when you fly back.
Gran Canaria is on Western European Time, one hour behind mainland Spain: UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 from late March to late October. Flight times to and from the island are shown in local Canary Islands time, so check your connections if you are changing planes in Madrid or Barcelona.
Yes. Aena's Galdos VIP Lounge is on the second floor of Area C, airside, and was open daily from 6:00 to 22:00 as of 2025. Eligible business-class passengers and Priority Pass members can enter, and other passengers can buy a lounge pass through Aena, with an outdoor terrace overlooking the apron.
Aena runs two parking lots, signposted P1 General parking, beside the terminal, and P2 Long-stay parking, for longer trips. You can park without booking or reserve ahead through the Aena app or website. Plates are read automatically at the barrier, so the plate on a booking must match the car you drive in.
