Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO), officially Alexander S. Pushkin Sheremetyevo International Airport, is one of the three main airports serving Moscow, Russia. It sits in Khimki in the Moscow Region, about 29 km (18 miles) northwest of central Moscow.
Aeroflot and Rossiya Airlines have their main Moscow base here, and Pobeda, Smartavia and Nordwind Airlines also fly from Sheremetyevo. Routes cover cities across Russia and destinations in Central Asia, the Caucasus, China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, flown by airlines such as Air China, China Southern, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Vietnam Airlines and Belavia.
The terminals form two complexes linked by a free underground train. The north complex has Terminal B, mostly for domestic flights, and Terminal C, mostly for international flights. The south complex has Terminal D, which reopened in 2024 for domestic flights, while Terminal F is closed for re-equipment and Terminal E sees little scheduled use.
Most travelers head to central Moscow, around the Kremlin, Red Square and Tverskaya Street, to the Moscow City business district or to the city's railway stations. The Aeroexpress train runs from both terminal complexes to Savyolovsky and Belorussky stations.

Check your arrival terminal before anyone comes to meet you. Terminals B and C in the north complex and Terminal D in the south complex are several kilometers apart, linked by a free underground train.
On an international flight you go through passport control, collect your bags at baggage claim and pass customs before coming out into the public arrivals hall. Queues at passport control can build up when several long-haul flights land together. Most foreign visitors need a Russian visa or the unified e-visa, so carry the documents your nationality requires. Domestic passengers come straight from baggage claim into the arrivals hall.
In the arrivals hall, follow the signs for Aeroexpress, buses or taxis. Aeroexpress trains leave from platforms in both terminal complexes, and Aeroexpress bus 1195 runs to Khovrino metro station. Taxis are ordered through apps such as Yandex Go, and waiting outside the terminal is free only for a short time, so drivers often ask you to call once you are through passport control. Pre-booked drivers usually wait in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
Moscow is on Moscow Time (UTC+3) all year, and Russia uses the ruble.
The Aeroexpress train avoids road traffic into the city; a pre-booked car is easier with luggage, late at night or for addresses away from the stations.
Trains leave from platforms in the north complex (Terminals B and C) and the south complex (Terminals D, E and F) for Okruzhnaya, Savyolovsky and Belorussky stations, about 46 minutes to Belorussky, and many continue across Moscow on the MCD-1 line. Fast and predictable, but you still need to get from the station to your address.
Express bus from Terminals B and C, and from the Gostinitsa stop near Terminal D, to Khovrino metro station on the green line, about 20 minutes without traffic, then the metro into the city.
Bus 851 runs to Rechnoy Vokzal metro station and bus 817 to Planernaya, from early morning until around midnight, and night bus H1 runs to the city center overnight. Slow with heavy luggage.
Taxis are ordered through apps such as Yandex Go and pick up outside the terminal. Door to door, but the drive into the city depends heavily on Moscow traffic.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals hall of your terminal, useful for families, groups, heavy luggage and late arrivals.
