Galeão International Airport (officially named Rio de Janeiro/Galeão – Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport) is the primary international gateway to Rio and one of the busiest airports in Brazil. Located approximately 20 km (12 miles) from downtown Rio, it handles millions of passengers annually. The airport has two main terminals, T1 and T2, and serves both domestic and international flights.
Named after famed Brazilian musician Antônio Carlos Jobim, Galeão is well-equipped with restaurants, duty-free shops, currency exchange counters, SIM card stands, and private transfer services. Though the airport has seen modernization in recent years, it still retains a mix of old charm and functional infrastructure.
