Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (OSL) serves Oslo, the capital of Norway, and sits at Gardermoen in Akershus county, north of the city. It handled about 27.1 million passengers in 2025.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) uses Oslo as its hub, and Norwegian and Widerøe run large networks from here. Direct flights link the airport with Norwegian cities from Bergen and Stavanger to Tromsø and Longyearbyen, and with European hubs such as Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London and Istanbul. Long-haul routes include Doha, Dubai, Bangkok and Newark.
All flights use one terminal building. Domestic flights use the A and C gates, Schengen flights the D and E gates, and non-Schengen flights the F gates at the end of the east pier.
The airport lies about 47 km by road from central Oslo. The Gardermoen Line runs in a tunnel under the airport, and Flytoget airport express trains reach Oslo Central Station in about 20 minutes. From here, most travelers head to central Oslo, Lillestrøm, Drammen, Lillehammer or Trondheim, all of which have direct trains.

If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, you pass passport control before baggage claim. Travelers who are not EU, EEA or Swiss citizens are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which Norway applies at its Schengen external borders and which has been fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport checks, and because Norway is not in the EU, Norwegian customs allowances apply.
After you collect your bags, you exit into the arrivals hall. Flytoget and Vy trains leave from the station under the airport; follow the train signs. The taxi stand is right outside the international arrivals hall. Book a taxi at the booking machines outside the terminal or in a taxi company's app, and do not get into a taxi without a reservation, since fares from unbooked taxis can vary greatly. Pre-booked drivers wait in the arrivals hall.
Oslo is on Central European Time with daylight saving in summer, and Norway uses the Norwegian krone (NOK). Winters are cold and often snowy, so keep warm layers handy from November to March.
The Flytoget airport express train suits most travelers heading to central Oslo.
Trains leave from the station under the airport about every 10 minutes during the day and reach Oslo Central Station in about 20 minutes; some continue to Drammen. Weekend service is less frequent.
Vy local and regional trains use the same airport station, with about three departures per hour toward Oslo and lines north to Innlandet. They stop at more stations than Flytoget.
The Flybussen express bus runs from outside the terminal to central Oslo in 40 to 50 minutes. It is slower than the train but stops at points around the city.
Book at the machines outside the terminal at ground level or in a taxi company's app; a car usually arrives within 3 to 5 minutes. Unbooked taxis can charge very different fares, so book first.
Uber and Bolt both list Oslo Airport in their apps; follow the in-app directions to the pickup point. Availability can vary late at night.
A pre-booked driver meets you in the arrivals hall and takes you door to door, which helps with heavy luggage or late arrivals. It has to be arranged in advance.

Oslo Airport, Gardermoen is about 47 km by road from central Oslo. The Flytoget airport express train reaches Oslo Central Station in about 20 minutes, and the Flybussen express bus takes 40 to 50 minutes to the city center. Driving times depend on traffic, especially at weekday rush hours on the roads into Oslo.
No. The airport is at Gardermoen, on the border of Ullensaker and Nannestad municipalities in Akershus county, north of Oslo. It is the city's main airport and replaced Oslo Airport, Fornebu, in 1998. A rail line runs in a tunnel under the airport, so trains connect it directly with Oslo and towns along the route.
Oslo Airport has one terminal building for all passenger flights. Domestic flights use the A and C gates, Schengen flights the D and E gates, and non-Schengen flights the F gates at the end of the east pier. Some gates in the north pier switch between domestic and Schengen use, so check the screens for your gate.
SAS uses Oslo as its hub, and Norwegian and Widerøe have large networks here. Other airlines include KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways, Finnair, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Thai Airways, Ryanair and Wizz Air. All of them use the same terminal building, with gates split by domestic, Schengen and non-Schengen flights.
Book a taxi at the booking machines outside the terminal at ground level, where taxis pick up passengers, or in a taxi company's app. The machines show fares from the available companies, and a car usually arrives within 3 to 5 minutes. Avoid getting into a taxi without a reservation, because unbooked fares can vary greatly.
Take Flytoget, the airport express train, from the station under the airport. It runs about every 10 minutes during the day and reaches Oslo Central Station in about 20 minutes, with less frequent service at weekends. Vy local and regional trains also stop at the airport, with about three departures per hour toward Oslo.
Yes. The Flybussen express bus runs from the airport to central Oslo, and the journey takes 40 to 50 minutes. Express coaches also link the airport with other towns in eastern Norway, and Ruter runs local buses in the area. The bus is slower than the train but stops at several points in the city.
Yes. Both Uber and Bolt list Oslo Airport as a pickup location in their apps. Request a ride once you have your bags and follow the in-app directions to the designated pickup point outside the terminal. Availability can vary, particularly late at night, so the train or a booked taxi may be quicker at those times.
Norway has no arrival form, but it is part of Schengen. Travelers who are not EU, EEA or Swiss citizens are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) at passport control, which has been fully operational since 10 April 2026. The planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Flights from other Schengen countries have no passport checks.
Both can be reached by direct train from the airport station. Vy regional trains run north into Innlandet, the region that includes Lillehammer, and SJ Norge runs express trains to Trondheim several times a day, including a night train. Flytoget also continues past Oslo to Drammen, and Vy trains serve Lillestrøm.
Oslo uses Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to UTC+2 for daylight saving from late March to late October. Norway's currency is the Norwegian krone (NOK); Norway is not in the EU and does not use the euro. Winters are cold and often snowy, while summers are mild with long daylight hours.
Oslo Airport is run by Oslo Lufthavn AS, a subsidiary of state-owned Avinor, which manages most Norwegian airports. It handled about 27.1 million passengers in 2025, around 16 million of them on international flights. The airport opened on 8 October 1998 and has two parallel runways.
