Terminal 1
The international terminal, used by all international flights, including the international routes of Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air.
Also known as: Don Mueang Airport, DMK Airport, Don Muang Airport, Bangkok Don Mueang Airport. Formerly Bangkok International Airport.
DMK · VTBD · Bangkok
Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) is one of the two airports serving Bangkok, Thailand, and the base for the country's low-cost airlines. Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air fly from here to Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai and other cities across Thailand, and on to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Delhi and more. Thai AirAsia X, Cebu Pacific, Batik Air, Citilink and flydubai add flights to Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and Dubai.
The airport has two linked terminals: Terminal 1 handles international flights and Terminal 2 domestic flights. A glass-enclosed elevated walkway joins them and also leads to the Amari Don Muang Airport hotel.
Don Mueang is a different airport from Suvarnabhumi (BKK), which sits on the eastern side of Bangkok, so check the code on your ticket. Don Mueang lies in the north of the city, about 23 km north of the Grand Palace in a straight line, and the drive to central Bangkok takes about 35 minutes in light traffic, longer at rush hour. The Don Mueang Tollway and Vibhavadi Rangsit Road lead into the city, and the SRT Dark Red Line stops at Don Mueang station, linked to the airport by a pedestrian bridge.
From the airport, travelers head to Chatuchak, Sukhumvit, Silom, Khao San Road and the riverside, north to Ayutthaya, or across the city to Suvarnabhumi for connecting flights.
