Handles all flights within South Korea, including Jeju, Busan, Ulsan, Yeosu, Gwangju, Pohang-Gyeongju and Sacheon. Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and the Korean low-cost airlines check in here for domestic flights.
Also known as: Gimpo Airport, GMP Airport, Seoul Gimpo Airport. Formerly Kimpo International Airport.
GMP · RKSS · Seoul
Gimpo International Airport (GMP) is Seoul's second airport, in Gangseo-gu on the western edge of the city in South Korea. It handles most of the capital's domestic flights and a set of short international routes, while long-haul flights use Incheon International Airport to the west.
Korean Air and Asiana Airlines use Gimpo as a base for domestic and short-haul flying, alongside Jeju Air, Jin Air, Air Busan, T'way Air, Eastar Jet and Air Seoul. The main domestic routes go to Jeju and Busan, with flights also to Ulsan, Yeosu, Gwangju, Pohang-Gyeongju and Sacheon. International flights link Gimpo with Tokyo Haneda, Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Shanghai Hongqiao, Beijing, Taipei Songshan and Kaohsiung, flown by Korean carriers and by JAL, ANA, Peach, Air China, China Eastern, EVA Air, China Airlines and others.
The airport has two passenger terminals, the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal, linked by a free shuttle bus.
Gimpo sits about 15 km west of central Seoul. Gimpo Airport Station connects the terminals with Seoul Subway Lines 5 and 9, the AREX airport railroad to Seoul Station and Incheon Airport, the Gimpo Goldline and the Seohae Line. From here travelers head to Hongdae, Yeouido, Myeongdong, Jongno, Gangnam and Magok, or on to Incheon Airport for a long-haul connection.

No take-offs or landings from about 23:00 to 06:00 local time, except in emergencies
Check first whether you are landing at the Domestic Terminal or the International Terminal: flights from within Korea arrive at the Domestic Terminal, and flights from Japan, China and Taiwan at the International Terminal.
On an international flight, follow the Arrivals signs to immigration, where foreign visitors are fingerprinted and photographed. Visa-exempt travelers need a K-ETA approved before departure unless their nationality is on Korea's temporary exemption list, which runs through 31 December 2026; travelers without a K-ETA complete the electronic arrival card instead. Collect your bags, pass customs and come out into the arrivals hall on the first floor.
Domestic passengers go straight from the gate to baggage claim and the arrivals hall. Taxi stands and bus platforms are just outside the first-floor exits, and Gimpo Airport Station for the subway and AREX is signposted from both terminals. If you need the other terminal, use the free shuttle bus. Korea is on Korea Standard Time (UTC+9) all year, and the currency is the Korean won (KRW).
AREX and the subway suit light travelers heading into Seoul, while taxis and pre-booked transfers are easier with luggage or late in the evening.
The AREX airport railroad leaves from Gimpo Airport Station and reaches Seoul Station in about 20 to 23 minutes. The same line runs west to Incheon International Airport.
Line 9 express trains reach Yeouido in about 15 minutes and the Express Bus Terminal in Gangnam in about 27 to 32 minutes. Rush-hour trains are crowded, which is hard with large suitcases.
Line 5 runs east through Yeouido and Gwanghwamun to Jongno 3-ga in about 44 minutes. It stops more often than Line 9 express trains.
Regular and larger deluxe (mobeom) taxis wait across the road from the first-floor exits and run around the clock. The ride to Myeongdong takes about 40 to 50 minutes, longer at rush hour; Kakao T also works for app bookings.
City buses such as route 601 to Jongno, and airport limousine buses, leave from the platforms outside the terminals, and the KAL Limousine 6707A runs to Incheon Airport. Buses are slower in Seoul traffic.
A pre-booked driver meets you at arrivals and drives straight to your hotel or address in Seoul, Incheon or Gyeonggi. It suits families, groups and travelers with heavy luggage.
