Osaka Itami Airport (ITM) is Osaka's domestic airport, in the Kansai region of Japan. It lies mainly in the city of Itami, in Hyōgo Prefecture, with parts in Toyonaka and Ikeda, about 11 km (7 miles) north of Osaka Station. Its official Japanese name is still Osaka International Airport, but since January 2025 its English name is Osaka Itami Airport. In 2024 it handled about 15.2 million passengers.
Despite the old "international" name, Itami has domestic flights only; Osaka's international flights use Kansai Airport. ANA and Japan Airlines both use Itami as a hub, with their regional partners, flying to Tokyo Haneda and Narita, Sapporo, Sendai, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Okinawa, Niigata and many other Japanese cities.
All flights use one terminal with 21 gates. The North Terminal side serves Japan Airlines, and the South Terminal side serves ANA, with shops, restaurants and a hotel in the central block between them.
From the airport, most travelers head into central Osaka, to Umeda and Namba, or on to Kobe and Kyoto. By road, central Osaka is about 25–30 minutes away, central Kobe about 40 minutes and central Kyoto about 55 minutes.

Domestic only
All flights at Itami are domestic, so there is no immigration or customs. If you are arriving in Japan from abroad, you will land at Kansai or another international airport and connect here from there.
From the gate, follow the signs to baggage claim on the North (Japan Airlines) or South (ANA) side of the terminal, then out to the arrivals area. The terminal is compact, so the walk is short.
Outside, follow the signs for the monorail, buses and taxis. The Osaka Monorail is the only rail line at the airport; change at stations such as Hotarugaike or Senri-Chūō for trains into central Osaka. Airport limousine buses run to Umeda, Namba, Kobe and Kyoto, and taxis wait outside the terminal. Pre-booked drivers usually meet you in the arrivals area.
Japan is on Japan Standard Time (UTC+9) all year and uses the yen. An IC card such as ICOCA or Suica works on the monorail and trains.
The limousine bus or a pre-booked car is the simplest way into Osaka, Kobe or Kyoto; the monorail suits travelers with light bags.
Buses run to Umeda, Namba, Kobe and Kyoto. Easy with luggage; about 25–30 minutes to central Osaka by road.
The only rail link at the airport, with transfers to other lines at stations such as Hotarugaike and Senri-Chūō.
Taxis wait outside the terminal. Door to door into central Osaka in about half an hour.
A pre-booked car meets you in the arrivals area, useful for families, groups and trips to Kobe or Kyoto.
