Main Terminal
The single passenger terminal, opened in 2002, handles all arrivals and departures, including an inter-island area added in 2005 for flights to the other Canary Islands. Binter Canarias, Vueling and every other airline use it.
Also known as: Tenerife North Airport, TFN Airport, Tenerife Norte Airport, La Laguna Airport. Formerly Los Rodeos Airport.
TFN · GCXO · San Cristóbal de La Laguna
Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport (TFN), usually called Tenerife North, is the airport in the north of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain, on the edge of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and about 10 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island's capital.
It is the Tenerife hub of Binter Canarias, which flies from here to the other Canary Islands, to cities across mainland Spain and to Madeira, the Azores and Marrakesh. Vueling has aircraft based here for its routes to Barcelona, Seville, Málaga, Bilbao and other Spanish cities, and Air Europa, Iberia, Iberia Express and CanaryFly also fly from Tenerife North. International links are few: TUIfly flies to Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.
Passengers use one terminal building, opened in 2002, with a separate inter-island area added in 2005. The airport sits on a plateau at 633 m, reached by the TF-5 motorway.
From the airport, travelers head to the historic center of La Laguna, about 2 km away, to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and its port, to Puerto de la Cruz and the Orotava Valley on the north coast, about 26 km away, and to the resorts of Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos in the south.

Most flights into Tenerife North come from the other Canary Islands, mainland Spain or other Schengen countries, so you usually walk straight from the aircraft to baggage claim with no passport control. If you arrive from outside the Schengen Area, for example from Marrakesh, follow the signs to border control first, where the EU Entry/Exit System records non-EU travelers.
Collect your bags in the baggage claim hall and continue into the arrivals hall on Floor 0. The official taxi rank is on this level, signposted from the hall; Aena advises taking taxis only from the rank and ignoring drivers who approach you inside. TITSA buses leave from the bus area on Floor -1, and car hire desks are inside the terminal.
The Canary Islands are one hour behind mainland Spain, on UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, and the currency is the euro. The airport stands at 633 m, so it is often cooler and cloudier than the coast; bring a light layer.
Line 20 suits light travelers going to La Laguna or Santa Cruz, while taxis and pre-booked transfers suit travelers with luggage or heading to Puerto de la Cruz or the south.
Taxis wait at the official rank on Floor 0, Arrivals. La Laguna is about 2 km away and Santa Cruz de Tenerife about 10 km, along the TF-5 motorway; Aena advises using only the official rank.
Line 20 runs from the bus area on Floor -1 to the La Laguna transport hub and on to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is slower and less convenient with large bags.
Line 30 runs directly to Puerto de la Cruz, about 26 km away, and route 104 links Santa Cruz, the airport and Puerto de la Cruz via La Laguna. Both leave from Floor -1.
Route 343 links Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife North, Tenerife South Airport and Los Cristianos, with a non-stop stretch of about 50 minutes between the two airports. Useful for connections, but check the timetable, as departures are limited.
Pre-booked drivers meet passengers in the arrivals hall and drive directly to hotels in La Laguna, Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz or the southern resorts. It suits families and groups with luggage.
Car hire companies have desks at the terminal, and the TF-5 motorway connects the airport with Santa Cruz to the east and the north coast to the west.

Yes. Tenerife North Airport was formerly known as Los Rodeos, after the area of La Laguna where it stands, and many locals still use that name. Its full name today is Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport, and its IATA code is TFN. It should not be confused with Tenerife South Airport (TFS) in the south of the island.

Most flights at Tenerife North are within Spain or the Schengen Area, so there is usually no passport control on arrival, but airlines still ask for a valid ID document. Travelers from outside the Schengen Area, for example on flights from Marrakesh, go through border control, where the EU Entry/Exit System has applied in full since April 2026.
Tenerife and the rest of the Canary Islands use Western European Time, UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, one hour behind mainland Spain. If you fly in from Madrid, Barcelona or other mainland cities, set your watch back one hour on arrival. The Canary Islands change their clocks on the same dates as the rest of the European Union.
