Airport Transportation in Algiers

Pre-booked private transportation takes you directly from Houari Boumediene Airport to your hotel, resort or vacation rental.

After immigration, baggage claim and customs, continue outside the terminal to the meeting area named in your confirmation. Your vehicle is reserved only for the passengers on your reservation: unlike a shared shuttle, it makes no extra hotel stops for other travelers, and the price is per vehicle, not per person.

Airport transportation in Algiers takes you from Houari Boumediene Airport to hotels and residences in central Algiers and the Casbah, Bab Ezzouar, Hydra, El Biar and Ben Aknoun, and along the coast to Sidi Fredj and Zeralda.

Algiers Airport Transfers

Our Algiers airport transfers start in the arrivals area of your terminal, Terminal 4 for international flights or Terminal 1 for domestic ones, where your driver meets you after customs and walks with you to the car outside. We track your flight so the pickup follows your real landing time, including late arrivals after the last train has left.

Enter your hotel or address in the booking form to see the vehicles available for your route, priced per vehicle before you pay. Unlike agreeing a fare with a taxi at the curb, everything is settled when you book. Each Algiers airport transfer goes door to door, whether you are staying in a hotel near the Grande Poste, an apartment in Hydra or a business hotel in Bab Ezzouar.

Algiers Airport Shuttle

Our Algiers airport shuttle is a private minivan or minibus for your party only: it leaves as soon as you are through the arrivals area and goes straight to your address, with no stops for other passengers. There is room for suitcases and family luggage, so it suits families visiting relatives, business teams and groups arriving together.

Landing at Algiers Airport

Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG) is the airport of Algiers, the capital of Algeria, in Dar El Beïda, east-southeast of the city, and the hub of Air Algérie. International flights use Terminal 4, opened in 2019; domestic flights use Terminal 1, and charter and pilgrimage flights use Terminal 2. Terminals 1 and 2 stand side by side, a short walk from Terminal 4.

After you leave the aircraft, follow the signs to passport control, then collect your bags in the baggage claim hall and pass through customs into the arrivals area.

Algeria is on UTC+1 all year, with no daylight saving time.

Entry requirements and local notes

Visa in advance. Most foreign visitors need a visa obtained before travel from an Algerian embassy or consulate; a few nationalities are exempt. Check the rules for your nationality before you fly.

Passport validity. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.

Cash declaration. Foreign nationals must declare cash worth more than 5,000 euros, and jewelry over 100 grams, before passing customs, preferably online in advance or on a written form.

Algerian dinar. Non-residents may not bring Algerian dinar banknotes into Algeria; change money at the exchange counters after arrival.

Friday and Saturday weekend. The working week runs from Sunday to Thursday, so offices and banks are closed on Friday and Saturday.

Algiers Airport Transportation FAQs

Where will my driver meet me at Algiers Airport?

Your driver meets you in the arrivals area of your terminal, after customs, and walks with you to the car outside. International flights arrive at Terminal 4 and domestic flights at Terminal 1, so add your flight number when you book and your driver waits at the right building. Check the company name before you get in.

How far is Houari Boumediene Airport from Algiers city center?

The airport is about 17 km east-southeast of central Algiers, in Dar El Beïda. The drive to the city center usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes in light traffic and longer at weekday peak hours. Bab Ezzouar is close to the airport, while Hydra and El Biar sit in the heights above the center.

Which terminal will I arrive at in Algiers?

International flights arrive at Terminal 4, which opened in 2019 and is used by Air Algérie for international routes and by the foreign airlines. Domestic flights within Algeria arrive at Terminal 1, and charter and pilgrimage flights use Terminal 2. Your flight number tells us which terminal to send your driver to.

Can you take me to a hotel in central Algiers or near the Casbah?

Yes. We drive you door to door to hotels, apartments and offices in central Algiers, including the streets around the Grande Poste, Didouche Mourad and the Casbah. Give us the full address or hotel name when you book so your driver goes straight to the right entrance.

Can you take me to Bab Ezzouar, Hydra or El Biar?

Yes. Bab Ezzouar, with its business hotels and offices, lies close to the airport, and Hydra, El Biar and Ben Aknoun sit in the heights above central Algiers. Enter your hotel, residence or office address in the booking form to see the vehicles available for your route before you pay.

Can you take me to Tipaza, Sidi Fredj or Zeralda?

Often, yes. Sidi Fredj and Zeralda lie on the coast west of Algiers, and Tipaza, with its Roman ruins, is further west. Share the full address when you book: when a vehicle is available for that route, it shows in the booking form before you pay, and if it does not, contact us and we'll confirm.

Can you take me to Boumerdès, Blida or Tizi Ouzou?

These longer trips outside Algiers can often be arranged. Boumerdès lies east along the coast, Blida to the southwest and Tizi Ouzou inland to the east. Share the address when you book and we'll confirm: if a vehicle is available for the route, the booking form shows it before you pay; if not, contact us before you fly.

Can I book a pickup for a late-night or early-morning flight?

Yes. Book your transfer with your flight number and scheduled arrival time, and the pickup is set for your landing, whatever the hour. This helps on late arrivals, after the last suburban train has left the airport station. If a vehicle is available for your route and time, the booking form shows it before you pay.

What happens if my flight to Algiers is delayed?

We track the arrival of the flight on your reservation, so your driver adjusts to a delay. If your flight number, date or airline changes, or your flight is canceled, tell customer service so we can move your pickup. If you are held up in passport control or baggage claim, message customer service so your driver knows.

Can I book a ride back to Houari Boumediene Airport?

Yes. Book a return from your hotel or address in Algiers and give us your flight time and airline, so your pickup leaves enough time for check-in, passport control and security. Tell us whether you fly from Terminal 4 for international flights or Terminal 1 for domestic flights, so your driver drops you at the right building.

Do I need a visa to enter Algeria?

Most foreign visitors need a visa, obtained in advance from an Algerian embassy or consulate; a few nationalities are exempt. Your passport should be valid for at least six months, and tourist visas allow stays of up to 90 days per entry. Check the rules for your nationality with the Algerian consulate that covers where you live before you travel.

What time zone is Algiers in, and when is the weekend?

Algiers is on UTC+1 all year, with no daylight saving time, so it is one hour behind Paris in summer. The working week runs from Sunday to Thursday, and the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday. Offices and banks close on Friday and Saturday, so plan any errands for Sunday to Thursday.

Do I need to declare cash when I land in Algiers?

Yes, above a set amount. Foreign nationals must declare cash worth more than 5,000 euros before passing customs, preferably online in advance or on a written form, and non-residents may not bring Algerian dinar banknotes into Algeria. Jewelry over 100 grams must also be declared.
