Brussels Airport (BRU) is in Zaventem, just outside the Brussels-Capital Region, and is the home base of Brussels Airlines. It has one terminal building with two piers: Pier A for Schengen flights and Pier B for non-Schengen flights, joined by a building called the Connector.
On a flight from outside the Schengen Area you arrive at Pier B and pass passport control before baggage claim; flights from Schengen countries arrive without a passport check. After baggage claim you exit customs into the arrivals hall on level 2. Buses and taxis are on level 0, and the railway station is on level -1, directly beneath the terminal.
Brussels is on Central European Time (UTC+1) and switches to summer time (UTC+2) from late March to late October.
Schengen entry. Belgium is in the Schengen Area. Non-EU travelers are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since 10 April 2026; the planned ETIAS travel authorization is not yet in operation. Check the visa rules for your nationality before you fly.
Check your airport. Brussels Airport (BRU) in Zaventem is not Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), a separate airport near Charleroi. Check the airport code on your ticket before you book.
Two languages. Brussels is officially bilingual, and Dutch and French are both used on signs in the city, so give us your address exactly as it appears on your hotel booking.
